I love a delicious soup any time of the year but a steaming hot bowl of goodness seems especially appropriate as the weather begins to cool. It’s still really hot here in Oklahoma but it won’t be long before salads will give way to soups on many of our menus.
I decided to gather all of my soup recipe posts in one place for you. While searching the site I was reminded of the days I used to post recipes from friends. And LOTS of them shared soup recipes. One of these days I should recreate each of them, take photos and update the posts. But in the meantime I decided to go ahead and share the links “as is”.

Dee’s Soup Recipes
There is nothing quite so satisfying as a rich and creamy potato soup on a chilly evening. And if that soup includes lots of delicious smoked gouda cheese? All the better!
Remember that old cabbage soup diet plan? Seven days of very specific food choices plus all the cabbage soup you want. And then there’s the Magical Leek Soup from Mireille Guiliano who wrote French Women Don’t Get Fat. This soup combines elements of both for a low calorie, yet tasty soup.
I’m a sucker for rich and creamy soups. Add seafood to it and I’m sold. This is my take on a recipe for corn crab bisque I got from the New Orleans School of Cooking and it’s truly a keeper.
As the weather gets cooler nothing satisfies quite like a steaming hot bowl of soup. Whether it’s a simple starter to a meal or a hearty version served as the main course, soup just hits the spot. Soup also happens to be one of my favorite things to make. If you are looking for a rich and filling bowl of yum you can’t go wrong with this Instant Pot version of Smoked Gouda Potato Soup.
There is something to be said for a good bowl of vegetable soup as part of a weight-loss plan. Or simply a tasty meal when you want something a bit lighter in calories.
I put out a call for recipe guest posts and was delighted when my friend Frank answered the call. He has shared some of his recipes with me in the past and as a New Orleans native you just know they are good!
From the “Olden Days” on my blog
This is from my old blog before I started blogging “seriously”. It doesn’t have a decent photo and the directions/quantities are vague. One of these days I’ll update it but if you’re an intuitive cook it will be easy enough to replicate, even from these directions.
Another of my old “recipes” – no picture and best suited to those who don’t need explicit instructions.
A fairly simple vegetable soup is taken up a notch with parmesan dumplings.
Guest Post Soup Recipes
A recipe from the “old days” of blogging.
This one is vegan if you skip the optional parmesan cheese for serving.
With the substitution of chickpeas for the chicken, this is another one that can easily be vegetarian/vegan.
Everyone needs a good chicken soup recipe, right?
Tuck this one away for cold and flu season.
One can never have too many potato soup recipes, right?
This one is a bit time consuming but that’s often the case for the best things in life.
This was the very first guest post recipe I shared way back in 2010.
Perhaps I should bring back “guest post recipes”. Let me know if you’d like to contribute something.

More of a method than a specific recipe.
Soup is truly one of my favorite things to cook. I love the creative aspect of soup making and it’s a fantastic way to use up leftovers. You can expect to see more soup recipes here in the months to come. And if you have a favorite soup recipe I’d love it if you’d share it with me.
