We have a new toy at our house:
Our friends with the rock band on Bourbon Street told David that they want him to learn one song to play with them the next time we go to New Orleans. David thought the bass guitar might be the easiest thing to learn in a month and he’s been working on it. However, he soon realized he’d need more time. And if he’s going to spend the next 6 months until our springtime trip learning a song, it ought to be on the instrument he’s always wished he could play.
He had seen this set of drums at a local music store last week when he bought a program to teach him how to play the bass. I think he’s been pining away for them ever since and today he went and bought them. He was concerned that I’d be bothered by the sound of his practicing but I reminded him that I homeschooled two kids who, between them, played the piano, violin, trumpet, harmonica, recorder, various percussion instruments and stereo a LOT. Chris was into making tapes of his “experimental noise” creations. I learned long ago to tune all of this out. As long as no one was arguing, I was good.
So, what’s new at your house?
