I’ve been meaning to try this for quite some time. Every time my daughter posts on Facebook that she’s making cheese bread, I say to myself, “You need to try that.” Well, last night I finally did. It was fantastic! And very easy. You owe it to yourself to give it a whirl.
1 3/4 cup all purpose flour
1/4 cup sugar
2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
3/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1 egg, beaten
1 cup milk
1/3 cup oil
garlic and parsley (I don’t measure this, sorry. Maybe a couple of teaspoons of garlic and a teaspoon or so of parsley.)
1/4 cup sugar
2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
3/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1 egg, beaten
1 cup milk
1/3 cup oil
garlic and parsley (I don’t measure this, sorry. Maybe a couple of teaspoons of garlic and a teaspoon or so of parsley.)
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees and lightly grease loaf pan.
- In large bowl mix flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, cheese, garlic, and parsley. In another large bowl beat egg, milk and oil. Stir flour and cheese mixture into the egg mixture, stir until moistened. Pour into prepared pan.
- Bake for about 35 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean. Let cool.
I’ll tell you folks, this one will make your taste buds sing with joy. Oh, and if you have more than three people in your family, do yourself a favor and double the recipe. I’m planning to mix up the dry ingredients in canning jars and label with the rest of the recipes so I can whip this up even faster. I see a lot of cheese bread in my future.
