Good morning, friends! It’s a brand new week and you know what that means, right? Time for a new menu. David is going to be out of town on business a few days this week so I’m going to cook a couple of things that Chris and I really like but aren’t necessarily favorites of David. In other words…seafood.
Dee’s Menu
Monday
- baked potatoes
- squash casserole (didn’t make this last week)
- salad
- glazed carrots
Tuesday
- Sweet and Spicy Shrimp over Cheesy Grits
- salad
- green beans
Wednesday
I have a meeting at 5 p.m and choir rehearsal at 7. There won’t be time to go home in between so I’ll just pick up something in town.
Thursday
I have a meeting at 6 p.m. It will probably only last an hour so I’ll cook when I get home. It needs to be something quick, though. I have some flounder in the freezer which I can bake in short order.
- Baked Flounder with Fresh Lemon Pepper
- steamed broccoli
- rice (I’ll get this set up in my Instant Pot with the timer set to have it done by the time I get home.)
- salad
Friday
David will be home and no doubt eager for a home-cooked meal.
- smothered pork chops
- rice (I’ll cook extra on Thursday)
- corn (David’s favorite)
- salad
Saturday
I don’t think we have anything scheduled (I know!) so perhaps a date night is in order.
Sunday
We’ll have our main meal after church at our favorite Mexican restaurant and something light either before or after Music in the Park.
What’s on your menu this week?

I’m trying to get better at planning a menu. So here’s my menu for this week:
Monday: cheese and onion pasty and chips (fries) with green beans and sweetcorn.
Tuesday: I have leftover veg and pasty from Monday; I’ll cook some more chips to go with them.
Wednesday: crispy potatoes with mixed vegetables.
Thursday: Fried battered fresh aubergine served with sauce and salad.
Friday: Sweet and sour noodles with bread.
Saturday: Boiled potatoes with minted greens.
Sunday: Leftovers from Saturday.

Sounds delicious! Will you shop for the whole week’s worth of meals at once or more often because you have shops nearby? We live so far from stores that I have to shop for longer periods of time but I think if I were within easy walking distance and had the time it would be nice to shop every other day or so in order to get the freshest ingredients and not have to keep so much on hand all the time.

I was going for stuff every day or so, but I’ve started doing it less often because there have been a lot of days when I had a lot to do and ended up deciding I’d just skip popping to the shop and order food in or something. It was starting to become a nasty habit, and I’m hoping to stop it before it gets started. I don’t like to waste things, so if I have the stuff in already I’m more likely to make the meals so as to avoid having to throw things away. I’ve made Thursday shopping day, since it’s generally a quieter day for us.
