We’re back! We spent a few days in California and then drove a car back for my parents. We had some good times but I’m so happy to be home. Unfortunately David leaves tomorrow for a business trip and won’t return until Friday. I’ll miss him but I’ve got a busy week ahead so at least I won’t be bored. 😉
Dee’s Weekly Menu
Monday:
David has a firefighter meeting at 5:30 and then has plans to go visit a friend/former employee who has serious health problems. Dinner will be late so I’m keeping it light.
- grilled ham and cheese sandwiches
- salad
Tuesday
My sister-in-law is in town this week helping her daughter (my niece) get settled in the house she just moved to. I think we’ll all go out to dinner together, including my kids.
Wednesday
I’ve got plans to shop the farmers market this morning. Sweet corn and peaches ought to be available so my dinner will likely consist of fresh corn on the cob, a salad and peaches for dessert. YUM!
Thursday
I’ve invited my parents to go see an old John Wayne movie that will be showing at a local theater. We’ll go out to eat first.
Friday
Today is my daughter’s birthday. We’re all going to the city for the night to celebrate.
Saturday
- grilled hot dogs
- macaroni salad
- fresh fruit
- chips
Sunday
We’ll go out for Mexican food after church and save half for dinner.

What’s on your menu this week? Do you frequent your local farmers market? If so, what are your favorite things to buy there?

Welcome back, and happy birthday to your daughter for Friday!
Monday: I had a meeting I wasn’t sure of the potential length of, and someone coming to put a cabinet up in the bathroom for me, so I planned something quick and simple. You’ll never guess… Yes, that’s right… Cheesy fries! 😉
Tuesday: We usually have roleplaying, so planned on take-away. I learned yesterday evening that roleplaying is cancelled, but when that happens my brother sometimes likes to meet me on TeamSpeak for a long chat, so we’re keeping the take-away plan, just in case.
Wednesday: Avacado rolls with dipping sauce.
Thursday: Another busy day is planned, so I need something simple. This time it will be veggie breakfast wraps.
Friday through Sunday: It depends what I can pick up when I go and fetch this week’s fruit and vegetables on Wednesday. There’s supposed to be roleplaying Saturday evening though, so I’ll have to make sure I either have leftovers for Saturday’s dinner from Friday I can heat up, or something quick and easy to make and clean up after.

Yummy!
I am currently obsessed with a carrot and beet salad. I imagine that will make appearances throughout the week.

That sounds very interesting! It’s nice to “see” you. Are you blogging again?

To answer your question – yes, I love Farmers Market and go each week on Saturday. My favorite Farmer’s Market is in Arroyo Grande, California in the Village. A quaint, lovely little town that takes me back to simpler times. I am planning to shop for grains, pure maple syrup and fruits to dry for a homemade cereal that is better than any you can buy in a box. I also make my own hummus so purchase organic ingredients for that as well as delicious flatbread which is perfect for breaking into pieces and dipping in the hummus. Have a lovely week!

That must be amazing to have all those things available in a farmers market. Ours is pretty much just locally grown produce. Occasionally someone will have honey or some plants.
