Today I decided to clean out and organize my refrigerator freezer. It was jam-packed and I had only the slightest inkling of what it contained. Among other interesting items, I found a huge supply of leftover bread products: Hot dog buns, homemade wheat bread, cinnamon bread, French bread, blueberry muffins and chocolate chip muffins. So, why not make bread pudding? I tore all into pieces and piled them in a huge bowl to dry for a few hours. I used about half to make a 9×13 pan of some rather awesome bread pudding, if I do say so myself. I put the rest of the bread in a large bag back in the freezer and will use it to make another pan of bread pudding for Super Bowl Sunday. The New Orleans Saints are playing and we are having a bunch of friends over to watch with us. Who dat!

Deanna – can you come clean out my freezer as well? I'm sure I have tons of bread products in there – the bread pudding idea is perfect!

I cleaned out my fridge and freezer over this blizzard time and I found nothing good! But at least it's clean now! Shoo~wee:) and what is whiskey sauce? I'm not a cook but I intend to be one day! Blessings ~ Margie

Cherie: In the past I've always bought French bread specifically to make bread pudding but honestly, I think this combination of various breads and muffins was even better. I'm going to put a container in the freezer specifically for this purpose and make a point of adding muffins and other breads to it.
Margie: I'll post the bread pudding and whiskey sauce recipes soon but basically you melt a stick of butter, add powdered sugar, whisk until smooth, add a couple of egg yolks and then add some whiskey. This is what I pour over the bread pudding. Oh, yum.
