This week’s menu plan may be more hope than fact.
Life sometimes throws you a curve ball or two and flexibility is essential. My mom had a mild stroke this past week (which is why there was no post Friday and no newsletter Saturday). Fortunately it didn’t cause any paralysis but her speech is still affected and controlling her blood pressure remains an issue. I was with her in the hospital all day both Friday and Saturday. She was finally released late Saturday and by the time we got her settled at home it was close to 10 p.m. My poor dad has a lot of health issues, too, and he was utterly worn out.
I know the week ahead is going to be a busy one for me as I go back and forth between my own responsibilities and taking care of my parents. On top of that I have three meetings and a dinner with David’s boss. If blog posts are few or non-existent this week I trust you will understand. As for this week’s meals, I’m planning some things that will be easy to share with my parents.

Dee’s Menu Plan
Monday
- spaghetti with mild Italian sausage
- tossed green salad
- garlic bread
Tuesday
Dinner out with David’s boss.
Wednesday
- baked chicken tenders with barbecue sauce
- macaroni and cheese
- salad
- broccoli
Thursday
I have two meetings today, back-to-back. I think this would be a good night for David to take me out to dinner afterwards.
Friday
- pork tenderloin
- mashed potatoes
- tossed green salad
- veggies
Saturday
It looks like our high temperature will be in the upper 50s so I think soup sounds good.
- vegetable soup
- corn bread
Sunday
If we make it to church then we’ll have Mexican food afterwards and save half for dinner.
What’s on your menu this week?

Having recently gone through health issues with my mom (putting her in a nursing home 2 years ago, ongoing care and then she passed away in September) I just want to remind you that you MUST take care of Dee during this time. If the blog sits idle for awhile, so be it. We will still be here. We want to make sure you are too. Sending love and prayers.

I’m so sorry about your mom. My dad has had health problems for a long time but this came out of the blue with my mom. Thank you for the reminder to take care of myself, too. I woke up in a lot of pain this morning (fibromyalgia) which is my signal to rest more. I may schedule a massage soon, too.

Thank you for stopping by.
Sounds like a busy week for you and great menu to match.
Sure hope your mom is doing better.

Thank you, Tamy. She seemed slightly better yesterday so we are hopeful.

Sorry about your Mom, though glad it was a mild stroke. I hope she recovers from it, and that it doesn’t happen again.
I’m sure everyone understands – and agrees – that family comes first, followed by other things that are more important than maintaining a virtual presence. Just remember to take care of yourself while you’re running around taking care of everyone else.
I don’t know what I’m doing for most of this week. Hubby wanted to cook me a special birthday dinner, but I wasn’t sure when I’d have time to sit down and enjoy it on Sunday, since all our family not being around means everyone calls and sends messages when they’ve got a free moment in the day. I didn’t want to be in the middle of trying to enjoy it when someone called. Because of this, I requested to have it Monday instead. He made me a vegetarian spaghetti bolagnese, with some vanilla cheesecake for dessert. Since we have roleplaying tonight (Tuesday) he made extra so I could have it to just heat up and eat after this afternoon’s game. Beyond that, I’m not sure, though I’m considering taking advantage of some leftovers from recent meals I have in the freezer to be able to have some extra time to work on some editing I need to do.

Happy birthday! Your birthday meal sounds delicious. Thank you for the reminder to take care of myself. I’m really trying to do so.

Yes, it was delicious. Also, I’m glad you’re trying to take care of yourself too.
