Last night David and I went to the local Walgreen’s to select a birthday card for our son-in-law. That was the only item we purchased. While I was pulling out the correct change the cashier slipped the card into a bag. As soon as I noticed what she was doing I said, “Oh, that’s okay…I don’t need a bag.” She pulled the card out and handed it to me. Meanwhile, a second employee standing next to her reached over, wadded up the brand new, clean bag and threw it away! My efforts to reduce the use of plastic bags are not always successful.

And I got in trouble at The Source — used to be called Radio Shack… because I said I didn’t need a bag… The lady said to me,” People don’t let us advertise anymore.” So I said that if I hadn’t seen the sale flyer which is advertising I wouldn’t have been at the store. She scowled at me.

You really have to wonder about people sometimes.
