Last night David and I attended the first movie night in our local park. I took these two pictures when we first got there but I would guess there were a couple of hundred people by the time the movie started at dusk. A friend who works for the city came up with this idea and I think it’s great. People got a chance to vote on which movie they wanted to see and the winner was The Goonies. Believe it or not, I’d never seen it.
In addition to the movie, there were bounce houses for the kids, as well as the usual activities which are sponsored by the Kiwanis: train ride, carousel, miniature golf and snack stand.
We are fortunate to have a beautiful, historic park and I’m happy to see it being utilized more. Other ideas in the works include concerts and maybe even the building of an old fashioned gazebo/bandstand. Ada really is a sweet little town with a lot of potential. Now I’m looking forward to our annual 4th of July fireworks in the park.
Do you have a nice park(s) in your town/city? What sort of activities are hosted there? I’d love to get more ideas to share with my friend who is working on developing family-friendly entertainment and activities for our community.
