Every morning, or sometimes the night before, I make a list of what I need to do for the day. In part, this is so I can actually remember what I need to do. Mostly it’s so David can see a list of items checked off and realize I actually do something other than watch “How Clean is Your House” and read cool blogs.
There are certain things on my list every single (damn) day:
- Make bed
- Feed menagerie
- Scoop litter
- Laundry
…and so on, and so forth. And then there are the other household tasks that are done less than every day:
- Wash sheets and remake bed
- Scrub and refill litterbox
- Water houseplants
- Clean toilets
Pretty exciting, huh? Worst of all are the things I tend to procrastinate about:
- Write something for church bulletin about poinsettia sale
- Call local florist regarding poinsettia availability
- Renew e-card membership
My list today also included:
- Sweep front porch (the trees have suddenly started dropping their leaves and piles of them have ended up on my front porch)
- Clean storm door
- Take down Halloween window clings from front door and replace with Thanksgiving clings
…and several other items. All told, I had 17 items on my to do list today. I virtually never complete my lists and nearly always have at least a few items to carry over to the next day. Today, however, something rare and beautiful happened. The last item to complete on my list was:
- Write blog entry
So now my list is complete. This isn’t likely to happen again so I’m going to bask in the sense of accomplishment.

I used to get soooooo mad at my hubby because I would work my fingers to the bone every day while he went to work. He would come home and ask,”What did you DO all day?” So I took to writing down each and everything as I did it. HE had the nerve to say I was just writing things down to make it look like I actually did something.
However, he passed away 15 years ago and I’d give my right arm to have him back… bad attitude and all.
