French Products for Your Francophile Life

July 17, 2025 By Deanna Piercy Leave a Comment

There is something rather unique about many French products. They tend to be high quality and just feel special. I’ve collected a list of some favorites to share with you, plus a couple I hope to indulge in one of these days.

French Products for the Francophile Life

Beauty products…

L’Occitane:

This French beauty company has many wonderful products. I was very sad when they discontinued “Peony Perfecting Cream” which I had on auto-ship for quite awhile. I wrote to them about it and they recommended Immortelle Precious Cream which I haven’t tried yet. I’m sure it will be lovely but honestly, a large part of what I loved about the other one was the scent.

Speaking of scent, I am absolutely in love with this L’Occitane product:

Néroli & Orchidée Hand Cream

It smells absolutely divine! I always carry some in my purse and have another tube by my reading chair. Not only is the fragrance wonderful but it makes my hands feel so soft. Highly recommended!

Skin care…

When it comes to skin care the French are legendary. One of my favorite products is:

Bioderma micellar water

It is a very gentle but effective makeup remover and skin cleanser. I use it every day.

Perfume…

Not a day goes by that I don’t wear perfume and I’m especially fond of a couple from the French perfumery, Guerlain.

My signature scent since high school has been Shalimar. I also wore L’Heure Bleu once in a while and fairly recently began doing so again.

Preserves…

J’adore (I love) Bonne Maman preserves.

There are a number of delicious varieties. My favorites are cherry, apricot and blackberry. If you haven’t tried them they offer a Sampler Tin.

Brioche…

I’d give anything to have a French boulangerie (bakery) nearby. Sadly that isn’t the case. However, Aldi carries several French brioche options – rolls, hamburger buns, and loaf bread. Quite tasty.

Mustards…

I’m a big fan of mustard in general but especially the French brand:

Maille

They make several varieties and they are all delicious.

Cookware…

For many years I drooled over Le Creuset cookware. Then a few years ago David surprised me with the Dutch oven. It is so gorgeous that I leave it sitting on my stove. I also have two skillets that my mom gifted me. Le Creuset is pricey but well worth the cost. They’ll last forever.

Toy…

I love giraffes so I have to include this in my list:

Sophie the Giraffe

I’ve got a new grandchild on the way and I plan to purchase one for him.

Soap…

Here are a couple of French soap companies I recommend:

Pré de Provence

Foufour Marseille soap

Water…

Once in a while it’s nice to indulge in a special water. I like to drink it out of a fancy crystal glass. Here are a couple of easily found options, one still and one mineral.

Evian

Perrier

French wines…

One can’t ignore wine on a list of French products.

Pinot Noir is my favorite red wine. And of course we can’t forget  Veuve Clicquot champagne.

Scarves…

An artfully tied scarf is oh, so French. Here are a few French scarf companies:

French Scarf

Anne Touraine

Vincent Jeannerot

Hermes (on my wish list!)

Sugar Cubes…

Do you recall the scene in the film Le Divorce where the French mother-in-law not-so-subtly criticizes her American daughter-in-law for just having granulated sugar rather than sugar cubes? This is something I’d like to try:

La Perruche Pure Cane Brown Sugar Cubes

I have had regular C&H sugar cubes, of course, but these sound especially nice. Have you ever had them?

I hope you’ve enjoyed this list of French products and I’d love to hear of any favorites you have.
