It’s likely a holdover from school days but fall tends to make me desire a new routine. And office supplies. David is going to be out of town tomorrow night so I’m planning to gather all my homemaking planning materials, print off some new charts, pour a cup of tea and get my act together.
I put this household notebook together years ago and it’s still in pristine condition. That’s because it stays on a shelf rather than getting any use. Ha!
I started following FlyLady years and years ago, long before she was a household name. Did you see what I did there? Household? Okay, so I’m sleep-deprived and hungry but it was funny to me.
There are lots of different homemaking systems out there and no matter which you choose, you’ll need to tweak it to fit your own lifestyle. FlyLady is a good starting point and she has lots of helpful stuff on her website. And then for the fluff and fun part of homekeeping, I like Brocante Home. She used to have a lot of free downloads but it’s now a business which has to support her and her young son. There’s still lots of inspiring information available on the site and if you’ve got a little money to spare, her stuff is worth the price.
Do you have a housekeeping system? I’d love to hear about it so leave me a comment.

My housekeeping system is to try to keep up until I can afford a cleaning lady weekly! My target is next March…
It is hard being a single mom of teenagers working full time and running to football games but I squeeze in a Bible study every week (not always the homework) and make the boys do some housework. Letting go of perfection helps too. My friend's houses are measure than mine so I don't feel too bad.
