Welcome to a brand new Life With Dee blog feature: Cozy Corner. I adore seeing little glimpses of other people’s homes and I feel certain I’m not alone. Every once in awhile I will share a little peek into my house. I hope you enjoy it.
The Entry Table
We have a very long, narrow entry hall with a rather unusual feature. Just inside the door to the left is an open area. We were told by the owners who built the house that they originally had the staircase in the entry but they decided to move it. They enclosed what would have been the staircase, giving us a very long, narrow storage closet/room. That left this odd little inset area.
When we bought the house we thought about turning this area into a coat closet but my mom mentioned that it was just the right size for my antique oak table. I inherited the table from my grandparents – it had originally belonged to my great (or great, great?) grandmother.
Mom was right. It fit just right and provides the perfect place for seasonal decorative displays. It could easily become a place to set things upon entering the house but I am vigilant about not letting that happen. I might set a letter on it to be mailed the next day but nothing is allowed to stay there that doesn’t belong.
My favorite thing to have on this table is a bouquet of fresh flowers, especially if they have a nice scent. What a pleasure it is open the front door and get whiff of the lovely fragrance of lilies:
I also have candles and a little candy dish. Right now I have a lilac-scented candle and the dish contains Easter candy.
And that’s it for this first “Cozy Corner”. Oh, one more thing. I have a habit of spelling it “cosy”, rather than “cozy”. The former is the British spelling and apparently a lifetime of reading old-fashioned British novels has seeped into my brain. So don’t be surprised if you see that spelling on my posts occasionally. In fact, I had to edit the title of this post because I had “spelt” it wrong. 😉 I trust you’ll excuse occasional inadvertent British spellings.

I won’t leave a photo as I often posts photos of my home on my blog. But I do like your little cosy corner…and I often want to spell words in the British way as well. Humour and Honour come to mind, lol.
