Happy First-Day-of-Fall, everyone! You know what that means? Well, besides pumpkin-flavored everything. That’s right. It’s the first day of Dee’s “Fabulous Fall” Series. Each day for the next week I will be posting a daily “assignment” plus tips for making the most of this new season. Don’t worry, this isn’t going to be a list of deep cleaning chores you have to do. I mean, if you want to clean your baseboards with a toothbrush, knock yourself out. I, on the other hand, will be scheduling time to sit on my porch and enjoy the nice weather.
Today’s task is to download and print a copy of my free “Fabulous Fall” checklist. Click the link below or in the drop-down menu at the top of this site under “Extras”.
It will print an additional blank page which you can use for your own notes or put back in your printer. Yes, it was a mistake on my part when creating the printable.
After you print the checklist, take a few minutes to walk through your house and decide on three things to work on in each room. I suggest one cleaning task, one organizational task, and one decorating task. But that’s up to you. If a particular room is a disaster and you want to do three cleaning tasks, fine. Or if a room is in good shape and you want to focus on decorating for the season – have at it. This is YOUR list. Make it work for you.
Here is an example from my own list:
Library:
- remove everything from shelves of china hutch and dust thoroughly
- find a better way to store notebooks (I have notebooks for homemaking, blogging, courses I’m taking, etc.)
- redecorate the coffee table
In that room, one task in each area works well. On the other hand, there’s my laundry room. I really don’t want to talk about it but let’s just say there won’t be any decorating going on in there.
So print your checklist, decide what you want to work on and then plan to check back here each afternoon at around 4 p.m. CST for your next assignment.
Treat of the Day:
Go take a walk. I took our dog, Shiloh for a walk a bit ago and this is what I saw when I took the time to look up…
I hope it’s a beautiful day where you live but even if the weather is less than perfect it’s good to get outdoors for a bit. Leave your phone inside (unless you need to take a picture like I did) and enjoy nature for a few minutes. You’ll feel better for it. And don’t forget. Meet me back here tomorrow afternoon for Day 2 of Dee’s “Fabulous Fall” Series. Have a beautiful day!

The weather is really bad here, but we did go out a little. Although, I admit that was more because we needed milk and electric than anything.

I know it won’t be long until our weather isn’t quite so nice. I need to take advantage of these pretty days.

We sat on the back porch this morning and had first coffee…and rode along backroads after we ate dinner (midday for us) out. Lots of golden rod, ragweed, and all sorts of autumn blooms and grasses. It was really lovely even in the rain this afternoon. Today I fixed two pairs of curtains that bothered me, one a little too long and one a lot too short. I altered them and they are now acceptable. I like your mix of enjoying fall and making it productive too. BTW the links you keep posting on Facebook are eating up all my time. It’s “Oooh look Dee posted this!” and off I go, lol.

Ha! I’m glad to hear you are enjoying the links. I’m not entirely certain what my readers are interested in so I’ve just been sharing a variety of things that strike my fancy. Good for you for getting a couple of projects done. I’ve got quite a list I’d like to tackle but I’m trying to not stress about it.
