Eating our way around New Orleans

October 28, 2013 By Deanna Piercy Leave a Comment

There won’t be a menu this week because we are in New Orleans. We arrived Friday afternoon and so far we have had the following meals:

Friday:
Appetizer at Margaritaville: chili cheese fries (We hadn’t eaten anything except a breakfast biscuit on our way out of town and we were meeting up with friends for dinner at 7:30. We were starving so we split an appetizer and had some drinks while listening to live music until our friends showed up.)
Dinner at Coop’s Place: I had fried chicken, rabbit and sausage jambalaya, coleslaw.

Saturday:
Lunch on the patio at Turtle Bay: cochon de lait (pulled pork po’boy)
Dinner at Adolpho’s: I had Fish Michelle (red drum topped with shrimp and crawfish in a cream sauce). David had the best chicken piccata I’ve ever tasted.

Sunday:
Lunch at Hobnobber’s while watching the Saints game: I had crab cakes and macaroni and cheese. David had breakfast (eggs, bacon, grits, biscuits).
Dinner: El Gato Negro with friends. Best Mexican food ever. I had cheese enchiladas and David had chicken enchiladas. We all shared some guacamole made fresh at our table. They have some pretty spectacular margaritas made with fresh juice, too.

Monday:
We slept late today and David walked to the corner to get us sandwiches for lunch. Commerce is one of those little places which most tourists don’t know about (yet). I had a turkey po’boy and David had a muffaletta.

I don’t know what our dinner plans will be yet but you can be sure the food will be delicious.
