I meant to write more about this but got caught up in the Grammy Awards…and Facebooking and Tweeting about it. But since I have plans for another post tomorrow I’m going to go ahead and post this barebones version of an update tonight.
Below is what I’ve spent on groceries so far this month. This past Thursday I went shopping in Norman with my daughter. She always shops up there and does a month’s worth at a time. I’m going to start doing a modified version of that with her each month. One thing you may notice is that I bought meat. For the past couple of years we’ve been mostly vegetarian and I’ve come to really prefer that for several reasons. However, I’m having a hard time getting my iron levels where they need to be so I’m reluctantly adding some meat back into my diet. That sure adds to the cost of groceries, though!

I'm moving in the opposite direction: always been a meat eater but am moving towards eating less. I've noticed however, that I have an urge to munch and still feel dissatisfied if I cut too far back on meat or fats.
I'd be surprised if you didn't spend more this month, after all you did decrease your stock last month with the slow month. I on the other hand, stocked up so much last month that this month I'm lower than last, lol.

I'm not sure how vegans stave off that dissatisfied feeling but even when we eat 100% vegetarian we include plenty of cheese, eggs, olive oil, butter and other good fats with "staying power". I'm not all that thrilled about adding more meat (a couple of times a week) as I really don't feel as good after eating meat but it seems to be necessary for now.
I'm planning to continue tracking my grocery expenditures for at least a few months so I get a better idea of what we spend.
