David started coughing yesterday — not certain if it is allergy-related or not. Then late last night his back started hurting and he ran a bit of a fever. I figured this meant he was coming down with the flu. He took some Airborne and Zicam, and drank orange juice. He also was really, really thirsty and drank lots of water. He feels better today (although tired because he didn’t sleep all night) and suspects that he might have been really dehydrated. He’s not much of a water drinker under the best of circumstances and…well…let’s just say that his beverages of choice in New Orleans have been of the dehydrating sort.
He’s trying to sleep now and we’re hoping he’ll be well enough to go to the crawfish boil we’ve been invited to tonight. Bob, the drummer from Debi and the Deacons, and his wife, Amber are having us over for dinner and I’d really hate to miss that.
Otherwise, we’ve been having a great time. We went over to the Westbank last night to shoot pool with Bryan and Debi. We had rented a car earlier in the day and drove over to the Camellia Grill again for lunch/early dinner/whatever-meal-it-was and then to Whole Foods. We picked up a couple of bottles of wine to take to dinner tonight plus some yogurt and fruit for my breakfasts.
I think we’ll just rest today until we go to Bob and Amber’s tonight. And I’ll be praying that David feels better. He really needs this vacation and it would be awful if he ended up too sick to enjoy it.
LOTS of Airborne!
Praying for David, that he doesn’t get that awful cold/cough/flu thing going around!
