Welcome to the first week of May’s LWD Grocery Haul series in which I share our weekly grocery purchases, including prices. I’m always curious to see what others purchase and what food prices are in different countries or regions. I hope you are finding this series interesting and helpful.
LWD GROCERY HAUL
May 2025 ~ Week One
Last week’s grocery costs were much higher than usual, mostly due to the purchase of more meat than usual…especially the t-bone steaks. Whew!
This week our menu intentionally uses mostly what I already had on hand to help balance out last week.

- Best Choice Extra Sharp Cheddar Cheese (2 @ 8 oz. each) $5.18
- Land O Lakes Half And Half (1 qt.) $4.39 (on sale)
- Bigelow Tea Bags, Earl Grey (20 ea.) $3.79

I’ll need to pick up some bread tomorrow when I go to town to pick up a prescription. It costs $3.76.
Our weekly menu…
In order to plan this week’s menu I surveyed what I already had on hand. In the freezer we have a huge bag of meatballs (used some in last night’s spaghetti), a meal-size package of cooked lentils for tacos, homemade jambalaya, leftover ham, fish fillets, french fries, frozen vegetables and a roast.
We also have most of a 10 pound bag of russet potatoes, plenty of carrots and onions. We have enough tortilla chips to go with our tacos tonight, as well as corn tortillas for those tacos. It really helps the budget to do an occasional menu like this!
