Grocery Haul ~ Fourth Week of July

July 22, 2025 By Deanna Piercy Leave a Comment

Welcome to the fourth week of July’s LWD Grocery Haul series in which I share our weekly grocery purchases, including prices. I’m always curious to see what others purchase and what food prices are in different countries or regions. I hope you are finding this series interesting and helpful.

July 2025 ~ Week Four

Pantry/Freezer Challenge Month Update

While I’m still trying to use up what I have on hand, I did buy extra chicken, pork chops and a bag of Gulf shrimp this week. I’m trying to work us into more of a Mediterranean diet (yes, I’ve tried this off and on in the past). It was significantly cheaper per pound to buy the chicken and pork chops in family packs so I have put enough of these into the freezer for two more meals each.

As far as last week went:

  • I used the pot roast and veggie leftovers from Sunday for our Monday meal.
  • The chef salads on Wednesday used up some vegetables and eggs, as well as club crackers and fresh cherries.
  • I had bought the hot dogs for Thursday but used the last of a bag of frozen french fries and the last of a head of cabbage to make the coleslaw.
  • Friday’s dinner used a very large chicken breast from the freezer, small red potatoes I had on hand and the other half of a package of asparagus I had in the fridge.
  • On Saturday I made pancakes from a mix but instead of water I used some buttermilk I had bought to make ranch salad dressing. I had quite a bit leftover so this was a good use for it. I used the last of the eggs. I made fruit salad from the rest of the crushed pineapple left over from Thursday’s dinner to which I added an overripe banana, grapes and blueberries.
  • Rather than the planned pot roast for Sunday I chose to make big salads for us. I used the last of the lettuce and then set out all of the following for each to make their own salad: tomatoes, leftover BBQ chicken/roasted potatoes/asparagus from Friday, French fried onions (from pantry), raisins, croutons, red bell pepper, cheddar cheese and ham. We also used the last of the club crackers.

For the most part I’m not replacing things in my pantry as I usually would but we were almost out of ketchup. I also bought mayonnaise because both of these items were on sale this week. Since we used the last of the club crackers I bought Chicken in a Biskit crackers because they were on sale (and they are delicious). Since I was planning on chef salads for Monday I wanted to have some type of cracker.

If you would like to join me in a pantry/freezer challenge this month, I’d love to hear about your meals and how you are getting creative with them. I will *try* to share photos of our meals on Instagram and in the Life With Dee Facebook group.

Our weekly menu…

I didn’t end up making the grilled peaches last night but rather, set out the last of the grapes. We had our usual tacos tonight. I’m looking forward to some Mediterranean style meals the rest of the week. I have pot roast on the menu for Sunday but honestly, as hot as it is right now, we may decide on something lighter that night.
