Last Monday I did a stupid thing. I was thumbing through a Cosmo magazine and decided to smell one of those perfume inserts. Most of the time this doesn’t really bother me and if I find some I like I tear them out and place them in drawers or closets to give them a nice scent. Now, as an asthmatic I really do know better. It’s like a game of Russian Roulette and last week there was a bullet in the chamber. I immediately began coughing and wheezing. This went on for a few days but I was feeling decidedly better on Thursday. In fact, David and I went out to dinner with three of the people in our young adults group and had a great time.
However, Thursday night I had a horrible time sleeping. I was totally restless and was literally awake almost the entire night. I decided to stay in bed a little while Friday morning instead of getting up with David like I always do. I did manage to sleep a little bit, got up and made a cup of tea and then sat down at the computer to read email. Within a short time I just felt this overwhelming fatigue and headed back to bed. I was also freezing despite the fact it was not cold. That’s when I got a clue and took my temperature. Keep in mind that I’ve only run a fever about five times that I can remember in my life. It was 101 degrees and that’s when I realized that I was sick. I spent Friday and Saturday in bed, getting up only to go to the bathroom or do a 30 second email or Facebook check a few times. My fever generally ranged from 100 to almost 102. I did take lots of vitamin C, oscillococcinum (homeopathic flu remedy) and a few other natural remedies. By Sunday morning I was fever free and while still tired, I was ever so much better. I’m still coughing a little and my energy level isn’t quite back to normal but I’ve made a very good recovery from the flu. Now I’m just hoping Chris and David don’t get it.
And I actually showed up at OUR church this Sunday, instead of one of the two in Wewoka or one in OKC! I missed you…glad you’re feeling better!
Sorry to hear you’ve been under-the-weather. I missed your blog.
Maybe we’ve had the flu here as well. I’m really hoping our at home remedies will kick it and we won’t have to take a trip to the dr. Ugh. I know what ya mean about the sudden freezing and boy did my body ache a couple of days ago. Glad you’re feeling better.
