It’s Day 2 of our “Fabulous Fall” series. Welcome back!
Today we are going to consider first impressions. What do you or visitors to your home see first? Do you have a front porch? What about just inside your door? Let’s take a little time today to spruce up these areas a bit and add a touch of fall.
Fabulous Fall
Day 2
I have a large front porch which has been a bit neglected in recent weeks. It needs a good sweeping, there are cobwebs that need to be knocked down, and the light fixtures need a good cleaning. I recently bought a few small pumpkins and decorative gourds but I also want to buy a couple of potted mums to add some fall color.
Indoors, we have a long entry hall with this weird little area to the side which I think was supposed to have been a coat closet. It was never enclosed but my great grandmother’s round oak table fits perfectly in that spot. It’s the first thing you see so I like to make sure it’s attractively decorated for each season.
I haven’t decorated it yet this season but here is a photo taken some years ago:
Here are your assignments for today:
- Pay attention to your entry area. Tidy, clean, decorate. Don’t get carried away and turn this into an all-day project (unless that floats your boat). Just spend a little time making it attractive and welcoming. And if you’d like to share a photo I’d love to see it.
- Pick one or more items from the checklist you filled in yesterday.
Treat of the day:
Buy a pot of mums or a pumpkin for your front porch. Or plant some pansies. Aren’t they the most cheerful looking flowers?
