Monday
We will be on our way home from a short trip to New Orleans. David has a board meeting for the volunteer fire department and we’ll probably not be home much before it starts. We’ll grab burgers from In-N-Out on our way home from the airport so I’ll probably just do something simple like a salad or quesadillas when he gets home from his meeting.
Tuesday
In looking at our schedule I think this looks like our best opportunity to get our Christmas tree set up. Our tradition is to watch “It’s a Wonderful Life” as soon as we get it up and the lights on it. I think something we can eat while watching the movie will be a good plan.
- broccoli, potato and corn chowder
- biscuits
Wednesday
I have choir rehearsal at 7 and I’m hoping to make it to the Advent service at 6:15.
- grilled cheese sandwiches
- homemade tomato soup
Thursday
Our niece and nephew have their school Christmas program and we hope to attend. It’s about 45 minutes away and I’m not sure we will have time to eat before we go. I think we may just grab a bite after the show.
Friday
- Chicken Marbella
- brown rice
- salad
- carrots
Saturday
- waffles
- sausage links
- fruit smoothies
Sunday
We will eat at our favorite Mexican restaurant after church and save half our meals for dinner.

I’m going to make some “food processor” shrimp salad today, which I will have with crackers. It does work on toast as a sandwich, but I like it with crackers better. I also have a half a head of cabbage left, so I will probably make some coleslaw.
Deanna Piercy says
I haven’t made coleslaw in quite awhile. You’ll have to share how you make yours sometime.

We’re planning to put our decorations up this week too. It will be Friday in our case though.
I don’t have a menu again. It’s difficult to make one at the moment, with things being up in the air with the completion of the repair work, holiday prep, and that kind of thing.
Deanna Piercy says
They still don’t have those repairs done? That must be so frustrating.
Tori says
No, they don’t. There are two reasons for this…
1. We all thought they were at a point where it was just the floor to be done now, but then water started coming in from somewhere again, so they’re trying to figure out what the problem is this time (whatever it is, it only appears to be affecting the hallway, and wouldn’t have caused us any issues personally, except it seems to have shorted out the intercom thingy we use to let people in the building).
2. They’ve had emergencies in some of their other buildings, and don’t have enough guys available to do any non-emergency work right now.
It’s really frustrating, but all we can do is wait, and hope they’re able to sort things out soon. But, of course, we’re heading in to the holidays properly now, and nothing gets done over the Christmas and New Year fourtnight that’s not essential. So anything not sorted by next Wednesday probably won’t even get touched until two weeks later. *sigh*
Deanna Piercy says
How very frustrating. But it sounds like you have a good attitude about it. Not much sense getting too worked up over something you can’t control, I suppose.
Tori says
Yeah… All getting worked up about it will achieve is giving me a headache from being stressed. So, I’m trying to just go with it and not get worked up. So far, so good! 🙂
Hey, they fixed the intercom buzzer thing at last… Came to do that on Friday. Except nobody told us, so we thought it was still broken on Friday, and went downstairs to wait for a package we were expecting (luckily, it arrived after only about half an hour of Kelly going down to wait). We only learned the buzzer was fixed when the landlord buzzed it to get us to let him in that evening. The guys had forgotten to tell us when they fixed it early that morning. I actually found it amusing… Kelly says I have a strange sense of humour (which is probably true, but there you go).
Deanna Piercy says
Tori, that is kind of funny. 😉
