We finally got our Christmas tree up yesterday and now I’m totally in the mood for Christmas. David will be out of town a couple of days this week but we are still going to work in at least a couple of our Christmas traditions. Our menu will be a bit light on the cooking for me because of those traditions which is just fine with me!
DEE’S MENU
Monday
One of our Christmas traditions is to pick up Chinese food and watch “A Christmas Story”. I think I’ll make my own sweet and sour chicken and just pick up the fried rice and egg rolls from the local Chinese restaurant.
- sweet and sour chicken
- fried rice
- egg rolls
Tuesday
David will be out of town. Good time to serve fish.
- baked salmon
- baked potato
- broccoli
- salad
Wednesday
David still out of town.
Thursday
- turkey and noodles (from leftover Thanksgiving turkey)
- biscuits or rolls
- homemade cranberry sauce
Friday
Another Christmas tradition we have is to take our dog, Shiloh, to the Sonic Drive-In for dinner and then drive around the park to see the Christmas lights. I know…but we don’t have grandchildren – ha!
Saturday
We are attending the 90th birthday party of someone in our community and there will be sandwiches and other foods. That will likely be our dinner.
Sunday
Our church is having a Christmas meal after morning worship. I’m making homemade dressing/stuffing for the meal. We’ll likely just have a snack later that evening.

Sounds like you have some fun things planned. Also, my thought about the Christmas lights with Shiloh thing was only to wonder what he thought of it all. If I was in your position, I’d likely do something like that with my dogs, so… *shrugs*
Still working on my using up things plan, apart from a few fresh veggies I need to get, so no real menu over here right now.

I don’t know if Shiloh really cares about the lights but he does love being petted by whomever is operating the donation stand. 🙂
I am also trying to base most of my meals on things I have on hand.
