Happy Thanksgiving to my U.S. readers! Are you ready for some turkey? We had the kids over last night for “Family Dinner and Game Night” and had an early Thanksgiving dinner. There were nine of us and I promise we put a healthy dent in the food I prepared. We had a turkey breast which I cooked in the crockpot (I’ll do a separate post about that), ham, mashed potatoes and gravy, homemade cranberry sauce, Creamy Cheesy Corn Casserole, whiskey carrots (my niece brought those), rolls, homemade chocolate chip cookies (my daughter brought those) and pumpkin pie (brought by the other couple who attended our meal). When we were all full of good food and wine, we played Trivial Pursuit. It was a wonderful evening AND I have leftovers for the next couple of days. Yay!
Monday:
- turkey sandwiches on homemade bread, with homemade cranberry sauce
- French fries (frozen organic)
- salad
- pumpkin pie
Tuesday:
- ham
- mashed potatoes and gravy
- peas
- cranberry sauce
- salad
Wednesday:
It looks like David and I will be out of town Wednesday afternoon until quite late. It looks like one of our bands will be playing in Ardmore and if so we will go see them and eat there.
Thursday:
We will join my parents, cousins, other assorted relatives totaling about 35 at my cousin’s house. We all sign up for various parts of the meal. I’m signed up for homemade dressing and homemade cranberry sauce. The corn casserole I made Sunday night was such a hit I may double the recipe and bring that, too.
Friday:
A lighter meal is in order, I think!
- homemade soup (not sure what kind yet)
Saturday:
My parents are having yet another Thanksgiving meal at their house. She and I will divvy up the cooking duties.

Sunday:
If the kids are around for “Family Dinner” I think we would all do well with something simple. Since we ended up doing Thanksgiving this Sunday I’ll move that planned meal up a week.
- grilled cheese sandwiches
- homemade soup
