It’s time to menu plan for the coming week. It looks like we’ll be eating at home every night this week. I’m also planning to have my parents over for dinner one evening.

Sunday
Our church is doing a fall festival celebration after the morning service. Everyone is supposed to bring a crockpot with homemade soup or chili (or side dishes). I haven’t decided which I’ll make yet but I’m leaning toward chili.
What’s on your menu this week? Do you have a favorite chili recipe? If so, I’d love to see it.
Tori says
I’m not a big fan of chilli, so don’t have a recipe to share. When I do actually eat it, I prefer a mild vegetarian chilli, but since I’m not a big fan of it, I rarely eat it, and never cook it.
Anyway, I hope your week goes to plan, and that you enjoy your Halloween celebrations on the weekend.
Yesterday (Monday) we ended up ordering Chinese, because I literally spent most of the day on the phone trying to sort out an issue that shouldn’t have even been an issue (don’t ask) and quite frankly just wanted to eat and go to bed after I was done dealing with that. We were meant to have roleplaying today (Tuesday) so we brought enough to have leftovers for tonight, but roleplaying is cancelled (which I learned after having ordered) so I guess I get a day where I don’t have to cook despite it not being nearly as busy as planned.
I’m not entirely sure what I’m making for dinner Wednesday through Saturday, to be honest. I do know hubby is supposed to have early roleplaying games on Thursday and Saturday though, so I’ll cook things on Wednesday and Friday that will provide leftovers for Thursday and Saturday, if that makes sense.
Sunday we’re planning to make pasta with pumpkin sage sauce and cheese, which will be served with fresh bread.

Oh, I hate those lengthy phone ordeals! I hope you got it all sorted.
Our pastor’s wife and daughter are vegan so I’m probably going to make something they can eat. I haven’t decided yet if I’ll do chili or soup.
Tori says
Yeah, I did. At least, I think so… I’ll know for sure in a couple of weeks, but in theory it’s sorted.
Personally, I’d take soup over chilli. But that’s just me.

Apparently I need to replace my crock pot for an instant pot. I don’t think I had heard of instant pots or just paid attention to them if I had. I’ve been doing a little research after seeing you use them for several recipes. It sounds like you get more bang for your buck and use of kitchen space with the instant pot instead of the slow cooker.
Deanna Piercy says
I’m really enjoying mine. I have enough room for several appliances but if I had to choose just one this would be it. I’ve kept my crockpot, rice cooker and yogurt maker but if/when we downsize someday those will go. One of the things I especially love about the Instant Pot is the saute setting. I can sear a roast or cook some onions first and then change to the pressure cooker or slow cooker setting. That means just one pan to clean up.
