I rarely want my picture taken but I asked David to take this of my mom and me tonight. We had gone to the McSwain Theater to see “It’s a Wonderful Life”, my favorite Christmas movie. I love what Clarence the angel inscribes in the copy of “Tom Sawyer” at the end of the movie:
Remember no man is a failure who has friends.
I’ve always valued family but in recent years I’ve come to recognize that close friends are the family we choose for ourselves. So when I count my blessings, I give thanks for my relatives and also the friends I think of as family.
Zuzu: Look, Daddy. Teacher says, every time a bell rings an angel gets his wings.
George: That’s right, that’s right.
George: Attaboy, Clarence.
After the movie we drove around town a bit looking at the lights. I love this place. Obviously these folks LOVE Christmas:
