Okay, I’ll admit it. David spoils me. Later this afternoon we will be heading to “the city” (that’s Okie-speak for Oklahoma City) for three nights at the fabulous Skirvin Hotel. Monday is our 30th anniversary and he has to leave that morning for his annual managers meeting in Houston. I’m not crazy about the fact that we won’t be together on our anniversary but David is doing his best to make it up to me this weekend. It’s also Father’s Day and since he was sick on his 50th birthday a couple of weeks ago we are celebrating all of these special occasions with a long weekend luxuriating in an elegant hotel ordering room service, sleeping late, staying up late, and enjoying fancy cocktails in the lovely Red Piano Lounge, perfectly concocted by Chris, a really fine bartender.
I don’t know if we’ll even leave the hotel. That is, unless we decide to dress up a bit, call for the limousine and eat dinner at one of the restaurants in nearby Bricktown. Actually, that sounds good. Let’s do that. David has the limousine driver’s phone number in his cell phone – his name is Mike and he’s a really nice guy. You see, that’s one of the things I love about the Skirvin. The staff is amazing, very friendly and they always remember us. That just makes it feel like our “home away from home”. Except this “home” has room service and staff. I like staff. I’m certain I could learn to cope with having my own staff which will come in handy if we ever win the lottery. Which reminds me – we should maybe buy a lottery ticket now and then.
So anyway, that’s where we’ll be this weekend. There may or may not be an occasional picture of some fabulous meal on Facebook but I won’t be blogging. Have a fantastic weekend and I’ll be back in a few days with pictures and tales of our little get-away.
