*Update: Sadly, there are now reports of four fatalities and perhaps 80 injuries from the storm.
Growing up in the desert of Southern California meant rarely thinking about the weather. In fact, if someone had mentioned the concept of a 24 hour a day weather channel, I would have thought they were nuts. But that was before moving to Oklahoma, land of crazy-pants weather.
This morning I was at a golf tournament from the ungodly hour of 7:30 a.m. until around 1:30. No, I wasn’t playing. I am the Chair of the board of the United Campus Ministry here in town and this is our big fund raising event of the year. Fortunately the rain missed us this morning but it was COLD! Especially as I went zipping around the course in a golf cart so my daughter could take pictures. It gradually warmed up over the course of the day which is nice but 50s in the morning and 70s in the afternoon is a recipe for storms around here.
Reports are still coming in but there has been some significant tornado damage around the state. Fortunately our area was spared but we did get some eerie green skies, wind and rain. So far I haven’t heard of any deaths or injuries, thank goodness, but homes and businesses have sustained severe damage and many in the state are without power. Please keep those affected in your thoughts and prayers.
Here are some pictures I took with this cool iPhone app. You can read about the Hipstamatic for iPhone app here.
