I’m a huge fan of maxi dresses, especially in the summer. They make getting dressed so easy and I find them much more comfortable than jeans or shorts.
I have bought several maxi dresses from Amazon, of all places. After receiving numerous compliments, even from strangers in parking lots, I decided to share my finds with you.

This is the first one I bought:
Short Sleeve Maxi Dress with Pockets
I bought it to wear during our annual Happyland Music Festival. I’ll just go ahead and admit I bought it primarily for the pockets. I wanted to keep my phone handy for taking pictures and videos so when I saw this one had pockets I had to have it.
I bought it in black because most of my wardrobe is black but also because black usually looks a little dressier. I thought it might be a good choice for travel. I LOVE IT! It’s flattering, comfortable, and easy to wash and dry. It can also be dressed up with heels and nice jewelry for an evening out. This will always be in my suitcase when we travel because of its versatility.
I liked the dress so well, I bought it in this pretty shade of teal a couple of weeks later.
And then in navy.
This fall I will probably buy it in dark green and burgundy. I think they will transition well into fall with the addition of a cardigan or a cute scarf. (Update: I did, indeed buy it in these colors.)
At only around $30 it’s one of the best clothing buys I’ve found in ages. Almost every time I wear one of these someone comments on it.
The next dress was purchased primarily as a swimsuit coverup. We enjoy going to Belize and this dress is perfect to take along. We basically live in our swimsuits all week and it’s great to be able to throw this on over my suit whenever we leave the resort.
I also enjoy wearing it around the house. Summertime in Oklahoma can be pretty hot but this dress is very lightweight and cool. It’s much cuter (and cooler!) than yoga pants. It’s also available in numerous colors and prints. Consider them “house dresses“.
V-Neck Spaghetti Strap Boho Maxi Dress
This last one is very flattering and can be dressed up with some nice jewelry for a night out. I currently own it in black, navy and a very pretty royal blue.
Sleeveless Deep V-Neck Maxi Dress
Believe it or not, all of these dresses are around $30-40 each! If you are an Amazon Prime member you can have any of these delivered in two days with free shipping. And if you’re not a Prime member but have been thinking about it, you can do a free 30 day trial. Plus you can get a $10 Amazon credit for downloading the app and logging in. That means you could have any one of these dresses for less than $20.
Do you buy clothing from Amazon? Any favorites to share? I’d love to see your recommendations.
Check out these winter dresses, too!

The only clothing I’ve so far brought on Amazon was a couple of bits I got for an outfit for a themed party. It was a steampunk themed party, and I got some old-fashioned-looking clothes, as well as a Victorian style maid’s cap and an apron, which I needed for my cook costume. I didn’t keep the stuff afterwards though. Gave the cap to my Dad and his girlfriend for if she needed it for a costume later, and the rest went to my Mam, because she liked the clothes, but I didn’t see any possible reason I might want to wear them again. It was only an old-fashioned style shirt, and a pair of dress pants, but still. She had the apron too, because she liked it and wanted it, and I wouldn’t normally bother with wearing one.
I think I’ve told you this before, but I don’t do dresses. I tried to like them, but never felt comfortable in one. Didn’t even wear a dress for my own wedding.

My mom doesn’t really like dresses, either. I don’t think she quite understood me when I refused to wear pajamas or pants as a toddler. Ha!
I used to be very leery of buying clothing online without trying it on first. I still can’t imagine buying jeans or something that requires a close fit. Fortunately, loose maxi dresses are easy. I do have a pair of yoga pants in my Amazon cart that I’m considering. I’ve been sorting through my clothes and after I got rid of all the worn out or ill-fitting yoga/exercise pants I was left with one decent pair and one that is rather faded but I’m holding onto until I can replace them.
