THIS WEEK WITH DEE
What a time we live in. As if two-plus years of a pandemic weren’t enough, Russia has gone to war against Ukraine. I am beyond impressed with the courage of the Ukrainian people right now. Please keep them in your prayers. And the Russian people who want no part of this travesty – pray for them, as well.

IN MY HOME:
REVIEW OF LAST WEEK
The week started off well as we enjoyed dinner on the patio of our favorite Mexican restaurant Monday. Our son joined us and after dinner, good friends came by to join us for a drink. It was a much-needed break from too much time indoors.
But things went downhill from there. We went from 70 degree weather on Monday to a winter storm Tuesday night. We had so much ice that David and Chris were unable to drive to work. Fortunately they planned ahead and brought their computers home. One good thing about the pandemic is that we’ve learned that work can often take place at home and not just in an office.
Then the news that shattered us all – Russia invaded Ukraine on Thursday. As a child of the Cold War period, it feels as though we’ve taken a big step backwards. I admit to having spent too much time doom scrolling the past several days. I’m sure I’m not the only one whose productivity took a nosedive.
I did get a couple of things done from last week’s list, though:
I organized our supplements. Well, not perfectly but better. David and I have upped the vitamins and supplements we take during the past two years in an effort to be as healthy as possible during the pandemic. I have also tried to build a good stock of OTC cold and flu meds, pain relievers and first aid supplies. Let me know if you’d be interested in a blog post about what I choose to keep on hand. It might be the incentive I need to develop a better organization system for them.
I made a list of spring cleaning tasks. Beginning this week, I’m going to start spring cleaning. I’ll be leading a challenge in my Make Over Your Life With Dee Facebook group if you’d like to join in.

THIS WEEK
This week I look forward to warmer days. Today is in the 60s and the rest of the week is to be in the 70s – yay! I’m ready to see the last of the snow and ice melt.
Tomorrow is Mardi Gras. I wish we were in New Orleans but the best I can do is make jambalaya tomorrow.
Lent begins Wednesday and I plan to continue my partial Facebook break. I have to maintain my pages and groups but I haven’t posted on my personal profile since January 23rd. I’m also going to give up YouTube for Lent. I’ve wasted way too much time there lately and I want to make better use of my time.
I have a couple of meetings this week and I’d like to bake bread on Friday.
WORK
I will continue working on the blog: fixing broken links, updating old posts and creating collections of posts by topic.
READING
I’m only one book behind on my GoodReads challenge for 2022 and I might be able to finish a book this evening. We’ll see! The LWD Book Club selection will be out tomorrow so be sure to watch for that.
SELF CARE
With warmer weather on tap, I want to spend more time outdoors. I need some sunshine!
HEALTH & FITNESS
One of the best ways for me to get a good dose of needed nutrients is by having smoothies. I can pack so much into one of these drinks and they are tasty, too. My goal is to have one for lunch each weekday.
FUN ACTIVITIES
I asked David if he thought he could get away from work to meet me for lunch one day this week since it’s going to be warm. I’m aiming for Wednesday. We have three local restaurants with patios to choose from. Maybe barbecue this week?
HABIT OF THE WEEK
I’m determined to implement a writing schedule. I think the best way for me to do this is to choose some times and put them on my calendar as if they were appointments.

A blog post about first aid supplies would be good – in these uncertain times I know I need to be more vigilant about this type of thing. Thanks for all your hard work.
I’ve started working on the post. I think it’s wise for everyone to have at least some basics on hand. I was a nurse and my husband is a first responder so we have a lot of first aid supplies. However, I really should organize them better and make sure we aren’t running low on anything. A blog post is a good incentive for me!
You would think people would have evolved to the point where we could settle things without war these days. Have we not seen enough suffering from pandemics and natural disasters without adding in more? 🙁
Anyway, I hope your week is going well.
I know we’re half way through it, but here’s how my week looks:
Monday: “me day” (day to only do essential tasks, but otherwise enjoy some relaxation and self care). Vegan poutine for dinner.
Tuesday: the Zoom cooking call I have a tips segment on, Dad over for a visit and dinner, and two different crafting Zoom calls. Pancakes and Welsh cakes for dinner, since it was both Shrove Tuesday and St David’s Day.
Wednesday: hosting a Zoom call, attending a social Zoom call, and my Artists’ Way support group session. Rice and sweet & sour sauce for dinner.
Thursday: eMail catch up day, plus a Zoom needle knitting call I plan to go to. Waffles with maple syrup and fruit for dinner.
Friday: facilitating Zoom book club. Cheese and bean toasted sandwiches for dinner.
Saturday: a Zoom crafting call I want to attend, plus Zoom kareoke. Lentil soup and bread for dinner.
Sunday: I’ll be hosting one of the Zoom cooking calls I usually attend. Leftovers from Saturday for dinner.
Yes, I have a week with a lot of simple meals this week. I’ve gotten quite behind on eMails and blog post notifications, so did it on purpose so I had as little prep time as possible needed for dinner and could use the extra time to catch up on those things a little.
