This Week With Dee – where I share our menu, my planned home tasks for the week, what I’m reading, self care plans and more. I hope it will give you some ideas for planning your own week or at least a glimpse of one homemaker’s life.

THIS WEEK WITH DEE
I had a total of 3 hours of sleep last night and that wasn’t even in one block of time. I’m giving myself grace today. In fact, I decided to wait until tomorrow to wash the sheets. I asked David if he thought the homemaking police would write me a citation for this lapse but he assured me it would be okay.
I think we (or at least *I*) need some peppy music to go with this post. Let’s see what I can find…
MENU:
Monday…
- turkey tenderloin
- leftover mashed potatoes
- stuffing
- veggies
- cranberry sauce
Tuesday…
- David has an appointment in the city at 5:30 p.m. so we will drive through someplace afterwards.
Wednesday…
- David will be out of town for a couple of days. That means… SUSHI takeout with Chris!
Thursday…
Friday…
- tilapia
- rice (or baked potatoes)
- veggies
- salad
Saturday…
- leftovers
Sunday…
- “breakfast for dinner”
IN MY HOME:
REVIEW OF LAST WEEK
My main goals last week were to mop the entry hall, bathroom, kitchen and laundry room. Well, I did the entry and bathroom.
And I still haven’t made a master spring cleaning list. Honestly, I’m not sure spring cleaning is going to happen in any major way this year. We are going to New Orleans later this month and I know better than to overdo it before our trip or I won’t feel well enough to enjoy it. My autoimmune disease has been kicking my butt lately. Spring allergies are in full force so that may be contributing to the fatigue and malaise.
I do intend to make that cleaning list, though. I’ll just spread out the tasks over a much longer period of time. And that’s okay. David assures me that our house is likely cleaner than most and as long as he’s okay with the state of things that’s good enough.
You may recall that I had Sour Cream Swiss Steak and Baked Lima Beans on the menu last week. These are from the vintage cookbook I’ve been sharing menus from. Blog readers requested that I share the recipes. I made them both on Friday. I’ll share them each in blog posts soon but for now, I’ll just say that I still don’t like lima beans.
THIS WEEK
I’m not making big goals this week but will just see how much I feel up to each day. Tomorrow, David has a medical test in OKC and I’ll be going with him. I have three Zoom calls this week.
I would like to mop the kitchen and laundry room which I didn’t get to last week.
WORK
In addition to a couple of blog posts, I am trying to get social media posts scheduled through the time we will be in New Orleans and for the week following.
We’ve got some things going on with our non-profit that I need to work on.
I need to get my tax information together for David. He worked on taxes this weekend and as soon as I give him my business info he can finish that up.
READING
I’m on track with my daily readings from the Robert and Elizabeth Barrett Browning book. I want to complete this a few days before we go to New Orleans so I figured up how many pages I need to read per day to do that.
I’m also reading ahead in the Shannon Ables book which has daily readings. My goal is to read ahead enough that I won’t be behind when we return from our vacation. I hope to do the same with the daily Bible readings.
My morning books:
1. The Road to La Papillon: Daily Meditations on True Contentment by Shannon Ables
2. The Living Bible – The Book of Common Prayer daily lectionary readings
3. Daring to Be Yourself by Alexandra Stoddard
SELF CARE
I removed my nail polish and clipped my toenails this weekend but didn’t get a fresh coat of polish on them. Maybe tonight?
HEALTH & FITNESS
I’ve just been too tired to do more than a bare minimum of exercise. I’m going to give myself a very tiny goal this week – 5 minutes on the treadmill each day. Just 5 minutes.
FUN ACTIVITIES
This month’s classic film selection is “Gone With the Wind”. Since David will be out of town a couple of nights, I figure that will be a good time to watch this. It’s three hours long I’ll watch it in two sessions.
HABIT OF THE MONTH (March)
Water goal…still working on it!

I consider any week where you even managed to check one thing off your to-do list a successful week. Hope you manage to do the same this week too.
Also, wouldn’t it be nice if we could go to sleep when we want, and sleep for the amount of time we want, every single time? I envy people who can do that! My hubby’s one of those people. It’s incredibly frustrating.
I managed to achieve everything I’d planned to last week, despite needing to rest a lot in between everything. If I hadn’t kept my to-do list so short I doubt I would have managed to though, and I do admit it was a close thing. I even mostly kept to my menu.
As for this week…
Monday’s tasks were to call and arrange a blood test hubby needs to have in a couple of weeks, as well as do an interview via Zoom that will air as an episode of the cooking call I’m part of next month. Tuesday is this week’s cooking call episode, and there’s a crochet call I hope to not be too tired to attend. Wednesday is my day to facilitate the ACB Presents call. Thursday is one of the two needle knitting calls that happen every month, which I help to run. Friday is my day to read the schedule for ACB Presents. Saturday I don’t have anything other than resting and reading planned. Sunday there’s a quilting call I hope to attend via Zoom, plus it’s the day for one of the book clubs I attend to have their Zoom call. Other than those things, it’s just the usual day to day stuff.
As for my menu…
Monday: baked potato with cheese and beans.
Tuesday: homemade pizza.
Wednesday: jackfruit burgers with salad. (Since I didn’t end up making them last week).
Thursday: crispy tofu and stir fried veggies with rice.
Friday: chilli and potato wedges with greens.
Saturday: leftovers.
Sunday: breakfast for dinner.
My husband is the same way. As soon as he closes his eyes, he goes to sleep and sleeps until his alarm goes off. I’m so jealous!
Hope you have a good week!
He’s so lucky! Now I’m jealous of both our husbands. LOL!
And, thanks. You have a good week too.
