Are you a Pinterest fanatic like me? Do you spend lots of time pinning adorable cottages, bathtubs overlooking the sea, cute purses and recipe after recipe?
Next question: Do you ever get around to actually making all that delicious food?
The ratio of recipes I’ve tried to those I’ve pinned is pretty pathetic. I look at all those yummy dishes and then end up cooking a lot of the same things over and over.
I think it’s high time I start trying the recipes I pin.
I decided to look through my Pinterest food boards:
- Breads and Rolls
- Something Sweet
- Potent Potables
- Recipes (how’s that for a creative board title?)
I selected at least one from each board and three from “Recipes“. Although I must admit I was tempted to pick more from “Potent Potables” – ha!
I’m making a commitment to you, my dear readers, to put at least one of these choices on my menu each week until I’ve tried them all. And I’m depending on you to keep me accountable!
So let’s take a look at my choices, shall we? It was really hard to choose but I’ll try to explain the rationale behind my selections.
Pinterest Recipe Links:
- Hawaiian Sweet Rolls by Bakeaholic Mama
I chose this because I have a recipe I like which uses Hawaiian Sweet Rolls – Hawaiian BBQ Chicken Sandwiches.
- Country Apple Fritter Bread by The Baking Chocolatess
For some reason I’ve been unable to discern, the donut shops in our town are open at the weirdest hours. Am I the only one who might occasionally want a donut after noon but before midnight? The only time I ever get one is if we have been out very, very late and the donut shops are finally open. That’s why I want to try this Apple Fritter Bread recipe.
- Dark Chocolate Cranberry Scones by Domestically Blissful
I’m trying to work out my daily schedule in such a way that I can take a break at 4 p.m. for tea time. And what better treat to enjoy occasionally with my tea than a scone?
- The BEST EVER Enchiladas by Mrs. Happy Homemaker
I chose this because I love enchiladas and who wouldn’t want to try the BEST EVER version?
- Slow Cooker Honey Garlic Chicken and Veggies by Damn Delicious
I’ve got several late afternoon or evening meetings a month and it’s terribly nice to come home to dinner ready in the slow cooker instead of having to start from scratch at 7 or 8 at night. This one is pretty much a one-dish meal. All I will have to do is toss a salad and dinner is done!
- Pork Loin in Cognac Sauce by Tartine and Apron Strings
I’m a sucker for rich and creamy sauces. This one looks absolutely divine and rather elegant, as well. I think it will be perfect for a “date night at home” along with mashed potatoes and a nice green salad.
- Earl Grey Martini by Andy Pearson for the BBC
I’ll be honest here. I’m not a huge fan of gin so I’m not too sure about this one. But you know my penchant for Earl Grey, right? I feel obligated to give this one a whirl.
So those are my choices. I’ve already made my menu for this week but I may try the Earl Grey Martini this coming Friday or Saturday night. The recipes containing meat will have to wait until my February grocery shopping trip with my daughter so the Apple Fritter Bread or Dark Chocolate Cranberry Scones will be first up next week. I can’t wait! In fact, I just might decide we need dessert this weekend.
