I know it’s August but this really is a July grocery haul post. Lisa and I shopped July 25th but I’m just getting around to writing this. Yeah, that’s a pretty good indication of the way things are around here right now. Until we get through AdaFest, our community film and music festival, August 23/24, there may not be much content here on the blog. I trust you’ll stick around until I get back in the swing of things come September. I have a read-along planned as well as a fun series or two.

As usual, Lisa and I started our shopping trip with a tasty lunch. We ate at Scratch, a favorite of ours. If you followed my Instagram Stories that day you’ll have seen a photo of my lunch. I had a delicious burger on a brioche bun with their excellent shoestring fries. YUM!
Next up was Target. Our purchases there are always fairly random. I had everything from superglue to chow mein noodles in my cart. As we were leaving we picked up iced coffee treats at the in-store Starbucks.
Target
I bought some non-food items such as a new glass measuring cup, a couple of cereal bowls, superglue, etc. Food/drink items:
- 2 boxes Spindrift brand flavored waters
- box of San Pellegrino waters
- peach flavored Cokes (4 bottles) – for a recipe?
- bottle of BBQ sauce
- bag of chow mein noodles
- hoison garlic sauce
- sweet chili sauce
- Hormel Naturals deli ham
- Hormel Naturals deli turkey
- Hormel Naturals deli salami
Total: $51.69
We did our main shopping at Natural Grocers. I know this doesn’t look like much in the way of groceries this month. Our local Aldi is carrying so much of what we need that I can get most of my shopping done there. I just keep a running list of things I can’t find locally and pick them up when Lisa and I go shopping together. I think she is finding the same thing between local options and a new resource she has been using – Crowd Cow. I haven’t tried them yet but probably will at some point.
Still, we have such a good time on our shopping excursions that I don’t see us giving them up!
Natural Grocers
- strained tomatoes
- oat milk
- Kashi cereal
- organic cheese (3 packages)
- Kerry Gold butter – (4)
- organic sour cream
- organic vanilla yogurt (2)
- organic dark chocolate truffles
- organic red grapes
- organic salad mix
- leek
- fresh carrots
- La Croix (1 box)
Total: $76.48
Our last stop was Forward Foods. I was planning to bring a picnic dinner to a local Music in the Park event and wanted to pick out a delicious cheese for that. The woman in the store was so nice. I asked if it would be okay for me to take a photo of the cheese counter and not only did she say yes, but by the time I left we were following one another on Instagram.
Forward Foods
- Manchego cheese
Total: $5.98
And that was that. Here is my grand total:
Total: $207.97
