If you could see my calendar you’d know why I haven’t had time for a monthly grocery shopping excursion with my daughter lately. I hope we can work one in sometime in July because we always have such a good time on our trips. But in the meantime…Aldi grocery haul to the rescue!

I bought a lot of salad ingredients because I’m now sending salads with David and Chris to work for lunch. They were eating fast food most days and that’s not healthy.
The only meat I bought, other than the deli meat which I’m cutting up for salads, were the chicken burgers. I’ve bought the Mediterranean flavor before and we love them. I hadn’t seen the Italian version before, although I tend not to look at the frozen prepared foods much. I cooked David and myself each one on Monday and served them with a small side of pasta and frozen broccoli. They were really good. They aren’t cheap but for an occasional easy dinner I think they are worth the splurge.
I have several packages of chicken in the freezer as well as grass fed ground beef, a small sliced ham, some sausages and a turkey which I ought to cook sometime soon.
David has cereal and a cup of coffee for breakfast each morning. I have my Earl Grey tea and sometimes some fruit and plain Greek yogurt which I still have plenty of. My pantry is well-stocked and David will be out of town most of next week so we should be good for another week. I do hope to make it to the farmers market Saturday for some fresh peaches, corn, tomatoes and green beans. I could just about live off of those things for the summer!

Great haul!
I could just about live off those for a while too… Throw in some potatoes, or wraps, or something like that, to go with the veggies, and I’ll be all set. I’d get bored of the same things day in and day out eventually, but it would take a bit. 😉
I already had potatoes. I love wraps but I’m trying to cut back on carbs and calories where I can right now. I’m planning to go see if I can find local peaches today and hopefully some fresh corn, green beans and homegrown tomatoes. If so, we’ll be having those for dinner tonight. Love summer produce!
Hi! I just found your blog! Live your meal ideas! May I ask what you budget each month for groceries?
Hi Mindy. These days I don’t have a strict budget I try to stay within but on average I’d say we spend about $500 a month on groceries. Our adult son lives in our guest house and eats dinner with us 3-5 nights a week. Otherwise it’s just the two of us.
