Our current count for David’s raccoon relocation hobby stands at eight, not counting the possums and one of our cats who got a little too curious. The live trap he had been using was on loan from a friend but since this may be an ongoing project, David bought his own the other day. I think that may be the definitive purchase of a rural dweller, even more so than a tractor or shot gun.
More than one person has asked if it’s possible that we are catching the same raccoons repeatedly. David is taking them 7 or 8 miles away so I don’t think so. However, this cartoon did come to mind:
Perhaps we should figure out a way to safely mark them so we know for sure we aren’t merely indulging in a losing battle with creatures that are way too smart for us.

You could always use a little red food colouring on a white patch of fur???It will wear off and shouldnt cause any issues??? At least they are getting their freedom again and that is a long long way so it would be surprising if they came back! Loved the cartoon by the way!
