Super Easy Beer Bread

August 24, 2011 By Deanna Piercy Leave a Comment

One of my guest posters shared a recipe for Beer Bread which I’ve yet to make (sorry, Caleb!), although I definitely plan to do so soon. His recipe sounds absolutely delicious, what with the fresh herbs and CHEESE, and all. However, sometimes one has need of a recipe with just a few ingredients — stuff you already have on hand — that can be thrown together in a couple of minutes. Enter “Super Easy Beer Bread”. I saw this recipe a couple of days ago online and decided to make it last night. It truly couldn’t have been easier and was quite delicious. David and Chris both loved it. I’m sure the addition of herbs and cheese in Caleb’s recipe would take beer bread up at least a couple of notches but if you just need a quick, hot bread for dinner, give this one a try.

Super Easy Beer Bread
Ingredients:
  • 3 cups self-rising flour *
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1 12 oz. bottle of beer
Method:
  • preheat oven to 375 degrees
  • grease a standard bread loaf pan
  • mix all ingredients well in a mixing bowl
  • pour into prepared pan
  • bake for one hour
Isn’t that easy? Give it a try and then let’s all try Caleb’s recipe on a night when we have a bit more time.
*I don’t keep self-rising flour on hand but all you have to do is add 1/2 teaspoon salt and 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder per cup of flour to equal self-rising. For this recipe that means adding 1 1/2 teaspoons of each.
