We just returned from an eleven day trip to New Orleans and boy, are we stuffed! We decided to set aside our usual vegetarianism during the trip and simply enjoy whatever sounded good to us.
We always have to have at least one meal at Mother’s. They make delicious po’ boys and we always split a Ferdi Special:
Another favorite is Deanie’s Seafood restaurant. Rather than the usual bread or rolls, they serve these spicy little red potatoes before the meal:
David had a steak and I had blackened redfish with lump crabmeat on top. Oh. My. Goodness.
A new-to-us favorite is the Royal Street Deli. I am fond of the Black and Bleu sandwich which consists of steak bits in a garlic marinade, fresh spinach, red grapes, red onion, bleu cheese and balsamic vinegar dressing. It comes with a side of sweet potato salad:
No trip to the Big Easy is complete without café au lait and beignets at Café Du Monde:
Stay tuned for more pictures to drool over and find out whether or not we’ve decided to remain vegetarians after our vacation free-for-all.
