Gosh, it’s been a long time since I’ve done one of these. I haven’t been posting all that much lately but I’m going to get back to it. I promise! So…French Friday. Have you seen “Midnight in Paris” yet? If not, you absolutely must. It’s one of the best movies I’ve seen in quite awhile.
I’ve never been to Paris but for some reason I’ve felt this sense that I belong there, at least on some level, ever since I was a kid. I can’t really explain it. It’s sort of like the way I fell in love with New Orleans instantly on my first visit and was overwhelmed with the feeling that the city is a part of me and I’m a part of it. I don’t believe in reincarnation but if I did, I’d swear I’d lived in both of these cities in previous lives. Okay, maybe I’m just weird. 😉
Anyway, the opening scenes of the movie which show Paris actually brought tears to my eyes. The beauty of the city simply overwhelms me. I can only imagine how I would feel if I saw it in person. Which I truly hope I shall at some point. After we left the theatre, David said, “Well, I guess we need to plan a trip to Paris.” If that’s not evidence of the charm of this movie, I don’t know what is. So go see it. If you are familiar with the people portrayed, you’ll adore it but even if you aren’t, the movie is still enjoyable.
I had so much more to say about all this but I’ve got to hurry and get ready for a charity event this evening. Look up some reviews and articles about the movie. Then go see it. You’ll thank me.

I understand this deja vu feeling for a place….for me it's St. Augustine. Makes me happy to be there, makes me cry to leave. Every.single.time.

I know someone else who feels that way about St. Augustine. I'd love to visit there myself someday.
