I’ve been thinking about the best way to organize my recipes and this just might be it. Thanks for the wonderful idea, Dawn!
Here at Dee’s Kitchen we get some WONDERFUL recipes, but how do we keep them all neat and safe? Yes, we can save them on the computer, until the next crash, that is. What about Grandma’s cookie recipe that the kids love so much? The file card system gets them all messed up and crammed together. I came up with an inexpensive “Family Cookbook”. The kids even tell me what to put in it.
You will need:
- 3 ring binder (You might start small, but you will either end up with several or one large one.)
- Sheet protectors
- Index tabs
ONLY the recipes you and your family like go in this.
Make your index tabs fit your needs.
Mine are:
- Sauces and marinades
- Chicken
- Ground meat
- Soups
- Breads
- Sweet breads
- Cakes and frosting
- Pie
- Desserts
Yours can be however you like it.
Now I keep two. One is for the recipes I want to try and one is for the recipes we like. Print off that recipe, put it in the sheet protector, put it in that binder and there you go!! Your VERY OWN “Family Cookbook”.
Write on those recipes too! Make changes, write on there who liked it and who didn’t. These personal touches are what will make it so special in the years to come.
Happy Recipe Note Booking!!!
