All summer we went out with friends at least once and often twice a week. These weren’t usually planned affairs but more of the “Let’s do something tonight” variety. We met for dinners, enjoyed live music at various venues, did a bit of karaoke and mostly just hung out together enjoying one another’s company.
Then for some reason the past several weeks have seen our spontaneous gatherings become fewer and farther between. I think that when school starts up, life gets busier even for those without children in school. Whatever the reason, we all have missed our frequent get-togethers. Yesterday afternoon I posted this status on Facebook:
David and I need to hang out with friends soon. So let’s take a vote. Tonight or Saturday night?
That’s all it took and we ended up with ten of us at Papa Gjorgjo’s North Lounge for dinner. It was a gorgeous night and the weather was perfect so we sat out on the patio and enjoyed the live music. The (terrible) picture above was taken with my iPhone on the patio. That empty dish in the foreground? It had previously contained some delicious baked ziti. Yummy!
After a few hours catching up with these dear people, the party broke up as several had other places to go. It was only about 10 p.m. so four of us went to Vintage 22 and spent a couple of hours enjoying their patio. It was such a nice night and so good to be together again (although some of the usual suspects couldn’t be there and we missed them terribly). I’m not sure how we ended up with such a fantastic group of friends but I’m so grateful for them. Life on the patio with friends is good!
Note: I don’t know what’s up with Blogger right now but links aren’t working properly. If you want to see the websites for the places we went last night, try these:
