I’m just a little bit excited. We leave for New Orleans this Friday and I can’t wait! Oysters, crawfish, beignets, po’ boys… Oh, yum. But we do have a few days to consider meals at home. Let’s see what I can come up with.
Monday:
- baked lemon pepper chicken breasts
- baked potatoes
- broccoli
- salad
Tuesday:
Our new minister is coming over for a get-acquainted visit at 7 p.m. so I need a meal which is light on the cleanup and won’t leave the house smelling too strongly of dinner. In fact, I may make some cookie dough earlier in the day and bake a batch just before he arrives so I can offer him some as well as make the house smell yummy.
- quesadillas
- salad
Wednesday:
This will be a “clean out the fridge” meal.
- vegetable soup (made with any fresh veggies in the fridge as well as any other suitable leftovers)
- crackers
Thursday:
I know I’ll be busy packing and cleaning and won’t want to mess up the kitchen. My plan is to have made enough soup Wednesday to have leftovers today.
- leftover soup
- grilled cheese sandwiches (to use up last of the bread)
And then we are off to New Orleans! We will be gone the next two Mondays but be sure to check back anyway. I have some fun Menu Monday posts ready to share. You won’t want to miss them!

Hope you have a good time… Not that I doubt you will, since you usually do when you go there. 😉
We have no menu for this week. There was a huge plumbing incident in the early hours of Sunday morning, and it caused enough damage that our landlord spent half of Sunday night with us trying to help us stop the flow of water (which was only achieved by stopping our boiler from being allowed access to water; leaving us with no hot water) and the plumber spent almost all day with us yesterday (Monday) and we’ll have repair guys of various types in and out over the next few days… Maybe even a bit longer. The good thing is, we get new flooring in the bathroom and hallway, and know our boiler is good to go for the Winter. The bad news is, there’s currently no ceiling in the hallway just outside our place, and we have to have our heat on with the windows open a lot so as to let things air and dry out; despite the not-so-nice and not-so-warm-any-more weather.
Not to mention, almost every towel we own now needs to be re-washed, the bathroom needs a good gclean (along with the hallway just outside it) and things that should be in the bathroom are currently in other places so as to keep them out of the way while things dry out. Anyway, this means things are chaos this week, and it’s going to be a case of eating what we can, when we can. And I’d just gotten everything all nicely cleaned and organized too… *Sigh*

Oh, my! That’s a real pain. Hope things dry out and get back to normal soon.
