I found it. The missing freezer key, that is. I knew I was the last one to put anything in the freezer so I just couldn’t imagine that I had put the key anywhere but its usual place. I did look around on the floor but between the dog food dish, David’s firefighter equipment, the dog bed, a large assortment of boots and shoes, and an embarrassing amount of dog hair, it wasn’t readily apparent. I knew it was way past time for a thorough cleaning in there so I was resigned to attacking the room the next day. I did have a hunch where it might be, though. Chris had brought over a load of laundry to wash. I could easily envision him placing his load on the freezer, transferring the load in the washer to the dryer, and then picking up his load — as well as the key — and putting them in the washer. Sure enough, the next day as he put the load in the dryer he called out, “Mom, I found the freezer key!”. I still went ahead and cleaned the laundry room, though.
