David had to leave at 4:15 a.m. in order to catch an early flight to Little Rock. There was no reason for me to be up that early but do you think I could go back to sleep? Noooo… even though we hadn’t gone to sleep until after midnight. I finally gave up a little after 5 and went to the kitchen to make my usual cup of Earl Grey plus a pot of coffee. I have a hunch it won’t be the only pot I brew today. And I’m pretty sure a nap will take place and chocolate will be consumed. Okay, so the chocolate has nothing to do with sleep deprivation but it has everything to do with pleasure and that is reason enough.
–I have lots to do today because we leave for New Orleans on Friday. Yay!!! We can hardly wait. David has been way overworked lately and rather stressed out. I worry about him so that stresses me, too. I am working on a way to blog from New Orleans but don’t know for certain if that will be possible.
–I read a very interesting study which indicates that artificial sweeteners might actually cause weight gain. In the spirit of research and my ever hopeful attempts to lose weight, I am conducting an experiment. I bought some organic sugar and am using that in place of Splenda in my coffee and tea. I’m going to try it for a month and see what happens. The other reason I am trying this is because of a second article I read implicating Splenda as a cause for female fatigue. So hopefully a month from now I will be skinny AND energetic. Do you suppose the world is ready for that? At least this would be a natural type of energy rather than the hyper/compulsive/vacuum-at-two-in-the-morning sort I experienced about a decade ago when I took diet pills. I drove my family nuts but -WOW!- was my house clean! And I was skinny, too. Ah, well. In the long run it wasn’t worth what it did to my health or my relationships. I think…
–I saw a handwritten sign on a street corner in town Monday advertising a church “Rivival”. Oh, what I would have given for a red permanent marker.
–I just read “A Year in Provence” by Peter Mayle. It was pretty good and made me want to visit the area, but not in the winter. I really didn’t know that it got so cold there and I do NOT like cold weather. David and I are in agreement that any moves we might make in the future will be in a southerly direction.
–Is 7:20 a.m. too early for a nap?
