A Useless Afternoon
Here it is almost 9 p.m. and this is the best I can do for a blog post today. Other than some laundry and basic housework I did diddly squat today. I was hoping to watch a Netflix DVD but it didn’t arrive today. Yes, we have to watch actual DVDs instead of streaming like normal people. The price we pay for the peace and quiet of the country is crappy internet.
So I looked through our movies and decided to watch Le Divorce. I’ve seen it several times but when a movie has gorgeous scenes of Paris, who cares?
I had originally planned to try a new recipe tonight, Chicken With Cherry Wine Pan Sauce, but that would have necessitated a trip to the store and that never happened. Instead I baked a potato for David and he had leftover shredded beef (from the enchiladas I made last night) over it. I reheated the last of the homemade macaroni and cheese with caramelized onions I cooked Wednesday for myself. Yeah, that’s the sort of day it has been.
As soon as I post this I’m going to make us some tea and then we are going to veg out and watch several episodes of The Donna Reed Show. Try not to be envious of our exciting Friday night.
Is it bad that other than your TV show of choice – which wouldn’t be mine – that sounds like a great evening to me? Because it really does…
Sometimes a quiet evening at home is just perfect. 🙂
Absolutely! 🙂
We watch Mayberry RFD while making dinner, Hazel while making the bed in the morning and Everybody Loves Raymond as fillers if there is nothing on to watch in the evening (we also like King of Queens). A good ole movie from AMC is also a treat.
David and I have been watching an episode of The Mary Tyler Moore Show each night when we get in bed. I watched an episode of The Donna Reed Show last night. Even my adult kids love the old shows. There is something sweet and comforting about them.
