I have been wanting to see Radiohead in concert for a long time so as soon as the tickets went on sale, David bought them for us. The two closest venues were Dallas and Kansas City. We decided on Kansas City because it was on a Sunday night (Dallas was a Tuesday) and since David has a location there he figured he could work in a trip to check things out on the Monday following. As it turns out, he ended up having to go earlier so by the time we went, he didn’t need to make another visit so he just took a vacation day. We flew up on Saturday, the 10th and returned Monday the 12th.
Just across the street from the concert venue we were greeted by this:
I took this blurry photo with my phone as I quickly crossed the street but yes, those are the infamous Westboro Baptist nuts protesting Radiohead. Apparently there weren’t any good funerals to protest that evening. I later looked up an article about it to find out precisely what they have against Radiohead and this is what I found:
“God is undoing this nation and effecting (sic) all of your lives, with the moth that quietly eats the very fabric of your national garment. Radiohead is just such an event. Freak monkey’s (sic) with mediocre tunes keeps you busy and focused by lightness.”
Oookaaay. In this instance I think I’m most offended by their poor writing skills. To each his own but I thoroughly enjoy the “mediocre tunes” of these “freak monkey’s (sic)” and the show was fantastic.
