David and I have been married almost 35 years. That’s a long time and of course we’ve had our challenges, as all couples do. But taking a bit of time out of our busy lives to get away and focus on one another is always a good way to remember why we fell in love in the first place.
We took a sort of “spur of the moment” trip to Oklahoma City Sunday when we found out we could get a good rate at the Skirvin, our favorite hotel. We were pleased to find they had upgraded us to a suite and our favorite bartender was working.
We enjoyed perhaps the best dinner we’ve ever had which is always a plus! We ate at Mahogany’s and I feel comfortable saying it was the best filet I’ve ever had. I could smell the butter before our server set the plates down. Gorgeous ambience, delicious food, impeccable service. It was a perfect dining experience.
It was just one night but we had a lovely time and it was a much-needed break. Our schedules have been rather hectic lately so it was good to disconnect from all that for a bit.
Today we are back in our usual routine but a little less stressed than we were a couple of days ago.

It’s always nice to take some time to be together and take a break from the chaos that is daily life. I’m glad you were able to do so, and that you had such a wonderful time.

I’m glad you two got the chance for a little getaway. Brian and I have been married over 31 years and we haven’t had a vacation in 6-1/2 years. We did take an overnight getaway last September for our anniversary. It’s hard to do even that, as my husband’s work schedule is “nuts” (12-hour shifts, plus working a lot of his days off) plus we have to have a housesitter as we have an elderly cat that needs a lot of care and monitoring. My mom was able to stay here in September.

That’s such a long time without a vacation. I hope you can find a way to take some time off together one of these days.
