THIS WEEK WITH DEE
It is freezing here and the roads are getting slick. All of our family including David and kids work from home except our Chris. We are hoping he will get to come home soon before it gets much worse. How many days until Spring? *Update: Chris made it home safely. This mama is glad to know all her family are home safe and warm.
Here’s a little winter music to enjoy while reading this post:

IN MY HOME:
REVIEW OF LAST WEEK
I finished the offices before David got home a day earlier than expected…Wednesday evening. He had a dental appointment Thursday morning and a cardiology appointment Friday morning. As a precaution, he’s been isolating in his office. We bought a nice inflatable mattress for that purpose. We both mask if we need to be in the same room. So far he is symptom free. He’ll test tomorrow evening and if negative will rejoin the family – ha!
THIS WEEK
I’m focusing on getting blog posts and social media posts scheduled ahead. David has to go to California on business next week. We have a few elderly or ill relatives we’d like to see so I’ll go with him. It’s a LONG drive so we will likely get an Audible subscription before we go. If you have any audiobooks to recommend, leave me a comment.
Our Christmas tree is still up and it looks like it will stay up until we get back from California. The weather is not conducive to hauling in the many plastic totes from our detached garage . Plus I bought a new organizer for the ornaments which will likely involve a couple of hours to sort and organize. I doubt we’ll have time before our trip. But that’s okay. I’m still enjoying all the cozy lights on these dreary days. 🙂
WORK
Look for several blog posts this week. In addition to the usual first-of-the-month post for the LWD Book Club, I now am doing posts on an artist, poet, composer and classic film for each month. As I mentioned, I’m working on getting things scheduled ahead before our trip. I’ll have my laptop with me but I can’t do much while we are driving. I’d like to not have to worry about posting while away. We’ll see…
As for the house, everything is in decent shape so I’ll mostly just be doing the usual upkeep. I should mop the kitchen but we’ll see if that actually happens.
READING
I’ve just about finished The Sun Also Rises by Ernest Hemingway. Next up will be the LWD Book Club selection. I’ve ordered it from Amazon and it should be here tomorrow. Stay tuned for what it is!
My morning books:
1. The Road to La Papillon: Daily Meditations on True Contentment by Shannon Ables
2. The Living Bible – The Book of Common Prayer daily lectionary readings
3. Blake: Poems (Everyman’s Library Pocket Poets Series) – I’m almost done with this and will start a new poet on the first.
4. Daring to Be Yourself by Alexandra Stoddard
SELF CARE
I’m still not doing well getting to bed at a reasonable hour. I finally turned out the light around 1:45 a.m. last night (morning?). My alarm went off at 8 a.m. and I’d been up a time or two to go to the bathroom. It was so chilly that I was loathe to get out of bed. I didn’t go back to sleep but I did hit snooze a couple of times. Looks like I’ll keep working on this one.
HEALTH & FITNESS
David’s company is offering an incentive for working out. He’s checking into the details and then we will both do that. From what I read, I *think* the exercise can be documented with a fitness watch. I hope so because we aren’t going to a gym with Covid being so prevalent in our community.
FUN ACTIVITIES
I did watch “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” this weekend. David met a friend to practice fly fishing Saturday for a couple of hours so I figured that was a good time for me to enjoy a movie.
Here is my new plan. I got to thinking about how – before streaming services – we would watch a television show just once a week instead of binging. I’ve decided to select a show for each night of the week and if I have time to watch television, I will watch the designated program. So I chose seven shows that are streaming on the services we have. Do any of you do something like that? What are your favorites? Here are my current selections:
- Family Affair
- Gilmore Girls
- Anne With an E
- The Goldbergs
- Emily in Paris
- The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel
- Bridgerton

I’ve missed reading these posts.
Hope you all stay safe and covid-free. I’m sure you can do the stuff without a gym… Even if you need some creative thinking for some of them. Hope that is the case.
Good luck with your trip.
I’ve not been doing much in the way of planning ahead. It’s difficult when I literally don’t know from one day to the next how I’ll be feeling, and how quickly I’ll tire out. Trying to work out a way to have a basic plan for the upcoming week while allowing for that. Wish me luck.
