IN MY HOME:
REVIEW OF LAST WEEK
Last week was better – no Covid scares! I kept up with the usual tasks and got some of the tulip bulbs planted. AND we finally got our sushi dinner!
THIS WEEK
We have nice weather today and tomorrow. It’s 70 degrees right now! But then things take a nosedive. We will have snow and ice and frigid temperatures for a few days. Fortunately I saw the weather report and decided to do my grocery pickup Tuesday rather than my usual Wednesday or Thursday. It’s supposed to be in the mid-60s tomorrow so that will be fine. I pick up my delivery in town at my daughter’s house, bring it home, sort out my mom’s groceries and bring those to her. It’s an all-afternoon affair but then we will be well-stocked when the weather turns nasty.
WORK
I really need to set aside a few hours Wednesday to work on things for our nonprofit.
Aside from this blog post I will likely have two more for you this week. Tomorrow is the first of the month so the LWD Book Club post will go up tomorrow morning. The third post may be a recipe but I haven’t decided for sure. If you have any topics you’d like me to post about let me know!
READING
I haven’t read much more of The Secret, by Beverly Lewis. It’s on my Kindle so I read that late at night after David goes to sleep because I don’t need the light on. However, I’ve been conking out within a few minutes and haven’t made much progress. I’ve been listening to the audio book, Cozy Minimalist Home by Myquillyn Smith and should finish it this week. I’m just starting the January book club selection – Joyful. I did get a head start on the February selection which I’ll share on the blog tomorrow.
SELF CARE
I’ve maintained an unbroken streak of Duolingo lessons for 35 days now, which I’m proud of. I’ve done Masterclass and meditation most days, as well.
One thing I need to do this week is a manicure and pedicure. My feet and hands definitely need some regular moisturizing with the dry indoor winter air.
HEALTH & FITNESS
I regret to admit that I’m still not using the treadmill. No decent excuse. I am, however, doing my morning exercise routine most days. I’m drinking a bit more water but still need more.
FUN ACTIVITIES
Chris and I watched two movies together last week – A Tree Grows in Brooklyn and The Last Tycoon. They were both by the same director and he’s been doing a self-study of film the past couple of years. We will watch another movie together on Thursday. I need to plan a movie night with David this week. We have been watching an episode or two of The Odd Couple in bed each night and that’s been fun. We didn’t do a Zoom cocktail party with our friends this past weekend but hopefully we will this coming weekend.
HABIT OF THE WEEK
One of my goals for 2022 is to connect with friends in an intentional way. I’d like to write more cards and letters. I need to choose a specific day/time of the week to do this. I think Friday would be a good day for this.

Homemaking is More Than Cleaning

Sounds like last week went pretty well. Hope the grocery pickup and delivery went smoothly, and good luck with the nasty weather when it hits.
My week looks like this:
Monday: I have roleplaying this week.
Tuesday: there’s a cooking Zoom call I like to attend. My Dad coming over for gaming and dinner. And a plumber coming.
Wednesday: Zoom piano lesson. A social Zoom call I like to attend. Plus, the ACB Crafters are starting an “Artist’s Way support group” that I’ll go to if I’m not too tired (going to read the book regardless, but my attendance will depend on my level of exhaustion, since it doesn’t start until something like 11:00pm my time, but I’ll go if I’m awake and feeling up to it).
Thursday: I have the ACB Crafters needle knitting call. And I’m hoping to record a couple of things for my YouTube channel.
Friday: I might pop in to the crafty chat call, and there’s the Zoom bookclub call I co-facilitate. Plus, I’d like to get the stuff I record Thursday scheduled to go up on my YouTube channel at intervals over the next few weeks (assuming I record enough usable content to be able to do that).
Saturday: the person who runs one of the craft subscription boxes I subscribe to very helpfully sent me an accessible to me version of the instructions for one of the kits, so I plan to work on that kit while listening to an audio book. Plus, I’ve been working on organizing the recipes I got from my Dad, which my Nan had typed up for me and my brother in the last few years of her life, and would like to get that task finished. And there’s Saturday night kareoke via Zoom, which I want to go to. I might also atend a cardmaking craft call that’s happening Saturday.
Sunday: hubby and I have planned a movie night. Plus, the cardmaking call continues so I might go to that. And I have the other cooking call I like to go to via Zoom, so will definitely be trying to go to that.
And my menu for this week looks like this:
Monday: savoury apple pasties.
Tuesday: roast vegetables with onion gravy.
Wednesday: leftovers from Tuesday.
Thursday: chilli, sweet potato wedges, and homemade garlic bread.
Friday: leftovers from Thursday.
Saturday: sweet & sour vegetables with rice.
Sunday: leftovers from Saturday.

It sounds like you have a full and enjoyable week planned. I read The Artist’s Way a few years ago and really enjoyed it. I’m in a FB group for people following the book.
Yesterday was a bit challenging as both pickups were delayed. I did errands and one of the pickups but the main grocery order was delayed a few times. I ended up going back home (20 minute drive) and made a second trip. We have ice and snow coming in today so EVERYONE was out getting groceries. Lots of outages but we got enough, I took Mom her groceries, and now I’m not planning to go anywhere for a few days. I’m pretty sure the guys will come home early today as the roads start to get icy.

It’s one of those books I keep saying I want to read and not doing so. I figure with that and the combination of a group I’m very involved with reading it, I figured it was time for me to finally pick it up. LOL!
Glad you got the groceries in the end, though sorry you had to deal with delays and icy conditions to do so.
