This Week With Dee – where I share our menu, my planned home tasks for the week, what I’m reading, self care plans and more. I hope it will give you some ideas for planning your own week or at least a glimpse of one homemaker’s life.

THIS WEEK WITH DEE
I haven’t done one of these posts in quite awhile. Tell me, is this something you’d like for me to continue? If it’s not of interest, no worries – I won’t be offended. I’m trying to get a better sense of what you, my readers, want to read here on Life With Dee. So leave me a comment. Yay or nay. Or what other suggestions do you have?
So for now, let’s get started. First, we set the mood…
Click here for some chill French music.
You may have heard that David got a job promotion and is now working from home. This is his first full week at home and we are figuring out how to schedule everything. I’d like for us to be on roughly the same work and meal schedule during the day so there will likely be some adjustments to my routine. For one thing, I often don’t eat lunch until 1 or 2 but I’d like for us to eat together and he’s used to eating earlier. I think I’ll aim for noon. If any of you have a spouse/partner working from home and have any words of wisdom, please share!
Tuesday is Chris’ birthday and he’s requested sushi for dinner. Works for me! He also prefers cherry cobbler to cake.

IN MY HOME:
REVIEW OF LAST WEEK
Since I’m just now re-starting this series, I don’t have a previous post to refer to. Let’s see…what did I do last week? Monday was a holiday for the guys. Our new washing machine was delivered Thursday and the guys moved washers, dryers and now I have a brand new one. We put an old set that had belonged to my grandmother in our guest house where Chris lives. Now he can do his laundry at his house instead of mine. That will be so much more convenient for him.
THIS WEEK
As I mentioned, Chris’ birthday is tomorrow. We are planning to play Trivial Pursuit via Zoom with all of our “kids”.
David will leave for a two week business trip next Monday and while he’s away I’m going to get our offices switched. He’s going to take my current office and I’m turning the guest room into mine. We were going to buy a new desk for my office but my mom offered me the desk my dad had refinished and used in college. It’s solid maple and much better quality that most furniture today. David and Chris will go pick it up this weekend.
WORK
In addition to this post, I also went to finish one about our “no-spend month” and hopefully one about my annual “syllabus”.
READING
I have a couple of books I had hoped to finish in 2022. I’m so close…
Gracious Living in a New World by Alexandra Stoddard
And November’s LWD Book Club selection:
War Clouds Over Blackberry Farm by Rosie Clarke
I’ll share more about my daily readings for 2023 in the syllabus post.
SELF CARE
I need to do a manicure and pedicure this week. I also need to be more intentional about moisturizing my whole body after my evening shower. My skin gets so dry and itchy in the winter!
HEALTH & FITNESS
David and I are trying to get into good and healthy habits now that he is working from home. More water, a short walk outdoors after lunch, earlier bedtime…
FUN ACTIVITIES
- Trivial Pursuit night with the kids Tuesday night
- Movie night with David on Friday or Saturday

I’m glad you liked it. I like seeing what people serve as side dishes, too. 🙂

Let’s see…I had a dentist appt this morning (yucky…old crown drilled out, temp put in for now), need to run errands tomorrow and get my car washed, yoga and visitng a friend on Thursday, date night with hubby on Friday. Not sure about the weekend yet. Regular daily chores and laundry in the house. Oh – need to make a meal plan for tomorrow – Sunday.
Good habit to try and get to bed by 10:30. I haven’t been going to bed until 11:30 – midnight. I need to start moving it to 11 so I can get up earlier instead of sleeping in. I feel like a chipmunk…semi-hibernating but only coming out to do some necessary things! 😉
Reading a book about music – “This is What it Sounds Like” by Susan Rogers. I think you would really like this!

I detest going to the dentist. I had my first crown done a few years ago and I really dreaded it. Fortunately it wasn’t as bad as I feared. Hope you’re not in any pain today.
So far we are failing on that early bedtime thing. Yesterday was our son’s birthday and we played Trivial Pursuit. Our daughter and son-in-law played with us via Zoom and our son-in-law wasn’t able to start until 8 p.m. It was fun but by the time we finally went to bed it was almost 11:30. We still watched our nightly episode of “Father Knows Best”. So…midnight…
Thanks for the book recommendation! I’ll be going on some business trips with David in the coming weeks. We’ll be doing a lot of driving and this sounds like something we would both enjoy listening to in the car.

I definitely want you to get back in the habit of doing these posts.
My policy regarding meals is that breakfast or lunch can happen whenever they do for each of us, as long as we both agree on when dinner time is and have that meal together. I’m not so concerned about eating every meal together, as long as we at least have our main meal at the same time (even if nine times out of ten we’re eating different things, since I’m vegan and he’s not, and we generally make our own meals but time them so we’re sitting down to eat at the same time).
Deanna Piercy says
David eats breakfast first thing every morning while I’m not much of a breakfast eater. We both need to lose weight and up our intake of fruits and veggies so I am going to *try* to have us eat lunch together. My plan is to prep a lot of different salad ingredients on Sundays so we can make our own salads for lunch at least a few days a week. But sometimes one or the other of us has a Zoom meeting or conference call so I’m sure there will be times we can’t do lunch together.
