THIS WEEK WITH DEE
This week’s post will be rather abbreviated as David and I are leaving Thursday morning for New Orleans. We will be gone all next week and return Monday, April 10th. I’ve got the regular, first-of-the-month blog posts scheduled to go out while I’m away:
LWD Book Club – March 31
Art Appreciation – April 1
Vintage Menu Plans – April 2
I’ll be sending the April email newsletter later today so if you’re not already subscribed you can do so here:
Let’s get started with some music!
MENU:
Keeping it very simple!
Monday…
- lasagna (never got around to it last week)
- green beans
- salad
- garlic toast
Tuesday…
- chicken and black bean burritos
- chips and salsa
Wednesday…
- leftover lasagna dinner
Thursday…
We leave Thursday morning and will be gone through Easter.
IN MY HOME:
REVIEW OF LAST WEEK
My almost new laptop had a major fail requiring a phone conversation with Apple Support (and I detest phone calls!) and a trip to the city to the repair shop. It was the logic board which has to be replaced. I have no idea what that is but it meant none of the four ports worked. I couldn’t charge it, nor could I connect to my monitor. Fortunately, I had kept my old laptop plugged in all this time so it’s still limping along. That also means that the only data I’ll lose is anything from the end of December when I migrated to the new one. Note to all: back up your computer!
THIS WEEK
In addition to the usual “daily three” (make bed, dishes, laundry) I plan to do a quick once over of the house before we leave Thursday. I won’t do any deep cleaning but I want everything reasonably clean and tidy when we return from our trip. I’ll also need to pack and work in a trip to the city to get my laptop (hopefully it will be repaired before our trip).

WORK
I worked several hours over the weekend getting blog-related social media scheduled for our time away. I have two of three planned blog posts written so just have to finish this one and one more. I had hoped to have one or two next week but that’s not looking likely. I’ve got the monthly newsletter mostly finished and will send it this afternoon.
We have scheduled a Zoom meeting for our nonprofit Thursday evening. We are going to Vidor, Texas first because David has to do something work-related there on Friday. We’ll then go to New Orleans Saturday morning. The Zoom meeting is scheduled for 5:15 and it’s a seven hour drive. That means we have to be out of here early that morning so we have time to get set up in the hotel before the meeting. I guess that’s my incentive to have everything ready Wednesday night so we can get out of town on time!
READING
We need to select an audiobook for our drive. We have Audible, as well as Scribd. We listened to John Grisham’s latest book, The Boys From Biloxi, on our trip to California last month. We enjoyed it. We also love the Dave Robicheaux novels by James Lee Burke. Since they are set in Louisiana, we will likely select one of those. Unless you have something really good to recommend!
SELF CARE
Getting to bed at a reasonable hour, at least until we get to New Orleans. 😉
HEALTH & FITNESS
One good thing about vacationing in New Orleans is that we walk a lot while we are there.
FUN ACTIVITIES
We will be in New Orleans. Need I say more? 🙂
HABIT OF THE MONTH (March)
Water drinking will be especially important on our trip. I have a personal rule of always drinking at least one glass of water every time I consume alcohol. I may up that to two glasses per drink this time.

What’s on your plan for the week ahead? Home tasks? Menu? Fun? What are you reading?
One of my goals after we return from our trip is to get serious about household organization. We’ve decluttered a lot in the past three years but I’m ready to tackle a few more areas of my home. I am also re-evaluating my daily routines in order to be more productive.
If you share any of those goals you will want to check out the Get Organized Toolkit by Ultimate Bundles. It is a collection of 62 eCourses, eBooks, templates, and more for just one low price. Click below to read all about it:

Hope you got everything you wanted to do before you leave on your trip today done in time, without tiring yourself out too much. And hope you enjoy your trip.
I’m late in here because your post wasn’t up yet when I checked on Monday, and Tuesday and Wednesday were were insanely busy. Tuesday involved three Zoom calls and a visit from my Dad, and Wednesday involved a Zoom call, a dentist appointment, and me sorting through some fabric so someone can come pick up the stuff I don’t want (she does a thing for an organization that makes padding for people who have had certain medical procedures, bags to cover medical equipment if you have to use it all the time and don’t want it obvious, etc, so I said she could have any fabric that I’m unlikely to use from the huge stack of fabric pieces I acquired among my Nan’s old craft stuff). The rest of the week involves more Zoom calls, and a call with my brother to try and figure out what’s actually going to be happening during his visit when he’s here over Easter.
And here’s my menu:
Monday: pasta with sauce.
Tuesday: pierogis (which we made for the cooking call).
Wednesday: garlic mushrooms and potato cakes (made with leftover pierogi filling) with peas and sweetcorn.
Thursday: cauliflower and broccoli cheese, plus baked potatoes.
Friday: leftovers.
Saturday: baked potatoes with cheese and beans.
Sunday: breakfast for dinner.

I did get everything ready to go and we left. However, we had to return before getting to New Orleans. Our son tested positive for Covid and we had been exposed to him. I’ll share more details on next week’s Monday post. The best laid plans, and all that.
